Let's see.....house on the Kenai, house on the Baja. Each, of course, with an appropriate water-borne mode of transportation. Money set aside for all the grandkids to go to college, retirement for me and my wife, etc., etc.

I wouldn't be pissin' it away holed up in a spaceship, that's for sure!

I would try a little project I have wondered about for years. Of course I was thinking of dollars on the Bill Gates level.

I would do a bit of research, find and buy some arable land. Several hundred acres with water and wetlands.
I would go body hunting amongst the homeless and make offers.
You move to my piece of ground, bring your kids and family. There will be materials there to build a home. You will make a committment to live there and farm the land. You and the others, will share the infrastructure that supports your community. By share I mean man and support.
You will abstain from drugs other than a bit of cannabis now and then. The same applies to alcohol.
You will send your children to the existing community schools.
You will, when the place produces it, pay your selves a wage.
Any excesses of funds will be put back into the project.
I will, early on supply funds as necessary to get the place viable. Then you residents make the place self sustaining.
It will require a lot of work. No one will starve or go without clothing, housing or medical attention.
If you don't wanna work don't waste my time.

Probably never fly. Too many entitlement entities. Obviously much has been left unsaid. As much funding is unavailable.

Still it would be a worthy endeavor. Many are said to be trapped in the street people category. A chance to elevate themselves would seem a blessing.

Id invest a big enough chunk to have a sustainable income from the interest alone. What was left over Id use to buy my dream house on the water with two boats: one with wings and one a fishing machine.

I'd use that money to enhance and enrich me and my family's quality of living.

I don't want a bigger house - just a tad bit nicer. Private schooling for my kids. Invest wisely so I can retire "now". Being able to travel wherever and whenver (fishing trips, family vacations, etc).

Boring stuff like that. I don't get off on expensive boats, cars, planes, houses, space travel and all that crap.

Oh yeah, I'd probably even buy a BOAT too! Something I could put on a trailer and keep in a garage. 22' Parker would do quite nice!

If you have to pretend you do not have the capacity to make $20 million but you might just be low rent enough to buy a lottery ticket and win it. I just wrote the check for my property taxes. I too will be forced out of my home sooner or later. After all I will never own it. It's just a lease from the county.

A little math tells me that if I spent my adult life (50years) at my present location the property taxes would hit in the area of $175,000 ! That is: providing there are no more increases over the next 20 years.

A bit of time back when the Silicon Valley took a torpedo in the nether regions and a lot of the rest of the country was in what is right speak talk, a recession. There were some professional and others on the street. Their jobs had evaporated, their mortages had been forclosed, and they were literally street people. I suspect that there are some of those out there even now. Many of the local shelters have men and women with kids as residents. Some of them have jobs with minimal paying positions. You cannot even begin to get into an apartment without all the necessary nibbles. Damage deposit, first and last month rent, approvable credit rating and so on.
I would give em a shot at a different world.
Maybe I could hire some Amish or Mennonites to show em how.
