Buddy and I are hitting it first thing in the morning. It seems that most posts I've read that the fishing has been about the same in both places. My bother in-law told me once that him and his grandpa used to fish for blackmouth around Blake Island. He said it was always a good place to fish. Has anyone else fish this area before and how was it or is it worth trying at all? This is my first time for blackmouth so just want to make sure I'm fishing the right area for these. And if any of guys or going to be out there let me know, I'll troll by and say hi.

Fish On,

ErnDog

Erndog,

Look for us tomorrow morning in a Tropy...Umrules and I are launching in Manchester early and fishing that area first think. We'll start fishing from the Manchester Fuel pier and troll down along Blake Island to Yukon Harbor. THat should be pretty good...Will spend some time there and also around Alan Bank then more than likely head over to Elliot Bay if nothing else produces....

Problem I've always had fishing around that area is that it seems to only be good on an outgoing tide for me, and this weekend it's all incomer all morning. As a result I'm fishing the slag pile in Tacoma if the south wind hits like they predict, or Point Neill off of Quartermaster if it's still coming from the north. Closer to home for me, and I sure did well there on Wednesday banana

Erndog, Did you make it today. I was on Elliot Bay from 7:30 to 3:00. I caught my fair shair of shakers, but had to work a little harder for the keepers. Finally, got mine just as the rain started coming down.

Dangerous Dave....was that you I saw out there? Actually, I saw a Beagle piloting a Trophy and thought he might have you along for the ride. I meant to say hi, but we were headed in opposite direction and you guys looked like you might have something more substantial on the line than a shaker.

LF,
Yep that was Dangerous Dave, Coho (The Beagle) and myself. We started out over at Manchester at first light, piiicked up a 6 lber about 7:45 off of Yukon Harbor on a Green Glo Hoochie. Also puicked up a couple shakers. All we got over at Elliot was 5 or 6 shakers and called it a day around 1:00. Got out of there before the rain hit! DD has pics that I am sure he will post later.

Sullie13, there is a great launch in West Seattle on Harbor Ave, Just north of Saltys Resturant. You will see Seacrest pier there also. It is a City of Seattle boat launch ran by city parks. It cost $3.00 to launch I believe.
Good luck.

Hey there guys, sorry so late with the report. Well I wanted to hit Elliot, but instead fished over at Blake Island and Alan bank on Saturday. My buddys boat plus we put out crab pots. Kill two birds at once. We got in to quite a few shakers at the south end of Blake and as we trolled into Alan we started to hit into shkers that we're right under the legal size. It cooled off for while so we headed for Beal, around from Alan, and my buddy hooked into nice 5lb. All on coyote spoons with green glow hot spot.

Hey was that you DD that we saw cross at Alan Bank, we we were also in a trophy. We saw a trophy heading for Elliot. DD from Blake Island where with Manchester and how long does it take to get there. I'm thinking of taking my boat out this weekend. I need to still get my legal BM.

Fish On,

ErnDog

The Don Armeni (official name) launch in W. Seattle is $5 to launch. Well worth it. Puts you right in the action as soon as you leave the launch. Find 140-150' of water, drop your 'rigger ball down, and start fishing.

I will be fishing Elliott on Saturday. I now have a VHF, give me a haller on Ch. 68

Hey Guys,

IMHO, You all should try the strecth from 4 mile rock up tp west point too.

The water depth stay's pretty constant along that run as well, so staying "in the zone" is easy.

We have slaughtered them in that area right up to just south of the can at west point all season.

So, if Eliott seems slow, head up north a mile or two and give it a shot.

Best Spot for us has been about 100 yards out from the bouy at west point trolling south for about 5-700 yards.

We usually run in-between 100 to 150 ft

Most of our strikes this year have been right at 100-120ft or so.
Now thats 140-150 on the DR with a good 40-50 degree angle on the wire.

There are a hell of alot of squid in Eliott bay this year. My partner Geoff and I beleive that the squid only retreat down to 100-130 ft during the day and thats why the BM's are there.
