Here is a pic of the only shark we dared try to handle, it was a hammerhead about 3 feet long. Notice how BK is keeping it well away from his body. These babies were just plain mean. We caught Hammerhead, Blacktips and Lemons up to eight feet long on Allstar 962's with Curados spooled with 20 lb test and 40 lb test steel leaders with yeah, you guessed it 5/0 Vision hooks. We had to resort to fishing for sharks becuase the wind put the Tarpon down and off the bite. We also did some night fishing for Latina's while we were there. We believe in C-n-R on this species, We practiced this on a night to night basis in different locations to not damage the gene pool. Peace Superfly BK's commentary"Keep in mind that little F-er ate a 3 lb. pompino!"

I caught a small shark a few years ago fishin in the gulf of mexico and It probably weighed 3 pounds, I remember its skin was really rough and tight. I remember trying to hold it while it muscled out of my hand, they are very strong fish. It almost took a piece out of me and that was just a baby.

Down there they do not put heaters in the boat, they put air conditioning.

here, chew on this http://www.animalnation.com/Archive/aqua/sharks/bnshark.html not your average 12 foot hammerhead but a smaller speices of a hammerhead. i know my fish too man, i was just in the keys this summer and we caught them. actually since they followed the boat around it wasn't really hard to catch them.

wow, well okay then i have a report then the winter "salmon" are biting at blue creek... cause you know steelhead are considered salmon these days. Okay Its a TYPE of hammerhead, but they are called BONNETHEADS not bionic sharks or what ever, its not the TYPE of hammerhead that people think of. but feel free not to reply because our arguement isn't going anywhere and good luck with the steelhead.

A few years ago, caught a 150lb Blue Shark. Took me almost an hour to bring it in. That thing would not die. We had to tie it up and drag it outside of the boat. Man you should of seen the teeth on this thing! I still think catchin a 30lb salmon is just as fun! Padre

That's a big un Bob, is that a Salmon shark.....oh no here we go again. LOL. Padre, speaking of catching Blues, I too, caught a big one at Westport a few years ago. There is a funny story to go along with that fish. Well after believing that I had hooked a huge Salmon, it then became , well maybe it's a Halibut, then a Seal , then a Skate and then finally realizing it was a Shark I played this thing for a long time as I had not wanted to lose my beloved last "red" mooching sinker. Got it to the boat and by this time the fish had wrapped itself in my line and was coming in tail first. I told one of my buddies to grab my rod ,as I grabbed the shark by the tail. My other buddy looked as if I was insane, with the gaffin his hand. The Blue shark started shaking back and forth trying to take a chunk out of my arm, as I yelled at my buddy to help me yank it in. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!!! It layed on the deck for a minute and then started writhing, trying to bite all of us, we all jumped up on the gunnels and deck seats like a bunch of sissies with a mouse on deck. I said "smooth move Ng" as I tried to beat it to death with my fish club which was more like a toothpick in this case. Well I finally beat it to death and there it lay in a bloody mess on the floor. The next mistake, was deciding to call it a day and to take the fish to the dock for pictures. We left it on the deck and headed in where we were got "wows" from everyone on land. Mistake #4?....one of the other fisherman at the dock suggest that it is neat for the kids to take the fish home, and place the jaw in cage, on an ant hill, and that in a few days all that will be left is the jaw. I took that shark home intact and let me tell you, as that "Uric" acid from the shark gets hot and starts spewing, and I mean spewing.....out of it......well it is a smell that you will remember for months.....yuck. And to top it off, I then had to haul it to work in the back of my new truck, to put it into the dumpster to smell for a few more days. JUST PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE......even with those SHARKS. Ng
