well, i got a idea, but its up to bob to let it fly..put up like 5-10 dollars a piece till it reaches enough money to go on a float trip w/bob, , mail the money to bob, and when he gets enough names and cash, he draws the winner and if he has a no show or open seat gives the winner a day or 2 in advance or however he wants it to happen..good or bad idea?

You know, this would probably work and be easily done and easy to do over and over if you setup some kind of lottery account and took payments through something like paypal. I'd be more than happy to participate in a lottery or two if I didnt have to send checks or money through the mail.

Make a post here if you'd be interested in something like this ... and we'll even sweeten the pot ... any monies raised in a trip raffle will go to a non-profit agency / program of the winner's choice!

I am all for this idea. I would say get as many people and as much money as you could get in say a 30 day period. This way you would hopefully get far more money than what it would cost to hire Bob for a day. with the amount of people on this board if everyone interested pitched in $5 or $10 you could raise a whole lot of money for some very good causes. You do the math this could be a worthwile thing to do. hello thumbs

Im in double. Think there could be a way to let people enter more than once??? I'd be glad to throw a couple of entries if the money is going to charity depending on charity. Please!! no United way or mass charity... Perferably something more direct so that the charity actualy gets the money.

Sounds like fun to me, but it would be great to be able to include your favorite or nornal fishing partner in the mix during the same trip if you know what I mean.

I think the logistics of this thing are incredible.

BUT, I think the bookwork is gonna be even more so. Whoever takes on the chore should get something for their time, and I think a healthy amount.

Maybe, it should be a cash only ($10 bill wrapped in a piece of paper with name and #) or something simple to handle.

Just my H O

However it's worked out its a great idea!

Looks like this is gonna fly ... keep letting me know if you're interested. I'll come up with some "rules" and make a post ...

I've already got PayPal setup on the site for hat orders, so that would be really easy and we'll certainly do cash as well.

I'm inclined to go $5 a crack, and no limit. I can't really see so many tickets being sold that we'd have to cap it, but if response is too overwhelming, I might change that.

I'm still inclined to let the winner choose the cause ... I think it might generate interest from a few more folks knowing that their fava cause might get some $$$ from this smile

A couple of ideas from me: The Wild Steelhead Coaltion, The Snider Creek Pond Fund, or on a non-fishing note: a fund setup for the expenses of the young granddaughters (identical twins) of a fellow guide here in town (T Dodge, you know him well) that were both recently diagnosed with Leukemia. There was a huge spaghetti feed & auction put on for them that many of the folks from Forks attended (it was WAY cool to see the turnout). A donation to that would be neat as well!

Just some ideas, perhaps others could make a few suggestions so that the eventual winner might have some more ideas smile

Great idea! This is my first post to tbe board, liked this idea so much I had to register to get in on it.
As seems to be the custom with first-time posters, here's my amusing (at least I thought it was) anecdote: A buddy and I are fishin for steelies this past summer on the upper drift of the Sky. We're anchored just below a promising looking riffle working drift gear, have been fishing for maybe five minutes when I feel the boat shake a little and hear my buddy say "What the ****"? I turn and look and he's standing there with the bottom section of his relatively new lamiglas rod in one hand, a dumbfounded look of amazement on his face, and the tip section of the rod slowing sinking just far enough downstream from us that he couldn't reach it. He had got a strike and set the hook so hard the line snapped, tip section came off and fell in the water. Still makes me laugh when I think about it.
Great board Bob, keep up the good work!

Suzy said she would loosen her purse strings enough to ante us both up.

As long as I put in a couple days overtime to refill the coffers.

Just kidding about that. We're in though.
It would be nice if we could ante up enough to cover the cost of two people on the trip.

Need a question answered....

If I win, do you folks (and Bob) care if I get a rain check until next year?

I'm in... had to finally register & login when I saw this. Great idea!!
But rather than a coug hat, to really embarass Bob we should make him wear a Sonics uniform. wink

an anecdote by way of intro; there are so many, where to start....there's that seal that I was sure was a 60+ fraser king out in the shipping lanes off sekiu (now that's C&R), or perhaps the very first time I floated the Duc with a buddy who'd only floated in once before but 'had a couple pockets that looked good'. Early in the float another boater quite rudely invaded our little space a couple of times early in the day & subsequently got the benefit of watching 4 beautiful nates hooked/photo'd/released, literally right in his wake. But maybe the best was a fishin buddy hooking a seagull attached to a leader attached to a live 4.5lb blackmouth at jeff hd-absolutely amazing. babble

Looking forward to engaging in the board!

A good idea for worthy causes. I'm kickin' in for me Kuda Kid. If I win I'd be happy to spend the day in the boat with Bob and Fishgal. It would be a nice change from my other partner. Good thing he faces forward most of the time in my boat. He's been diagnosed with multiple uglyosis.

After 90 posts on this topic I see there are alot of "eyed eggs" (i.e. lurkers) jumping on board, I propose we give preference points to members who contribute on a regular basis, something like a points system like they do for special hunt permits, just an idea. That being said, before anyone gets bent out of shape,

I"M JUST KIDDING wink

GREAT IDEA !

Except I think anybody with less than 80 posts And more than70 should get preferential treatment cause we need the experience!
