Wow, Bob! Nice post!

I've been trying to jig up the coho the last couple of falls, but with limited success. Being a diehard egg fisherman I don't usually stick to it very long.

A few details in your post will change my technique a bit, hopefully with a little more success, especially on those non-biting Skykomish fish. Only time will tell...

Thanks for a great post. beer thumbs

Fish on...

Todd.

I don't know if your knot would make a "big" difference or not. Maybe it would! I personally prefer a tight line connection so that the second a coho grabs on to it, I and pull as much slack as possible out and set the hook. Coho just love to roll and spin once they are hooked, and I don't know how that would affect a loose type knot. I always have used a special type of knot that I had perfected many years ago. It's by far my most favorite knot for strength and usually keeps my jig riding in whatever angle I tie it in (most of the time anyway).

I call it a "double" clinch knot. It's a pain in the rear sometimes to tie, because it is literally a "double" clinch knot. I just double my line when I make the clinch knot!

It strength tests as good, if not better then any other not out there.

Let us know if your knot works out better this year. Who knows until you try?

Nice post cow!
I've had great success using the knot that monty described. Haven't had any problems breaking it either. I believe it gives the jig a little more action.

Cowfisherman, the knot you like to tie is called a rivers inlet knot. Its one of my favorites too!
