Tried to join IFISH.NET last night , this was their responce

Hi there!

You must respond to this e-mail to complete your registration.

Currently, we are screening new users at ifish.net to limit abuse issues. To complete your registration, please provide us with the following information to allow us to verify your identity:

- your real name

- City and State

- a brief statement of what you will be using Ifish discussion board for and how you learned about ifish.net

Your user information may be revealed to the administrator, but will not be made public without your consent.

You must reply within 48 hours or your registration request will lapse.

When your registration is complete, it would be nice if you introduce yourself by making a post. The tradition at Ifish.net is that people tell a "fish tale" to provide an idea of who you are and what you like to fish for. Note that a "fish tale" is a story about fishing, but if your story would be more appropriate on the hunting or salty dogs forum, you can post it there.

Thanks!

Well I guess I have changed my mind, and do not want to be a member of your so elite forum that you fill the need to interview your applicants. So I will just stay at Piscatorial Pursuits where at least They welcome everyone to their site and If they have any problems with a member they handle it at that time. If you do change the member sign up procedures in the future please feel free to notify me, as I would consider becoming a member at that time

Thank You

Marsha is correct. There have been a few trouble makers that have been banned from not only this bb but Ifish.

Elitest NO! Troublemaker free...YES...

It's your choice.

The addresses of members do not go to advertisers and the 3 yrs or so I have been registered on this bb and Ifish, I have not received any spam from advertisers.

I am also a moderator on ifish..

Hockana their screening process to limit abuse issue exposure to the already approved fine folks had you that turned off? confused

Try registering as "Fish Jesus" eek and find out the many reasons why fine cause free folk
may take exception. You may be stunned to
find listed the many isms that already accepted fine folk could possibly come up with. frown

Maybe Hockana used elitist for lack of a better term? slap

For what its worth, Bob's board is a fine bb also. So if you are comfortable here, many of us are members of both bb's. So many of the same topics are found on both bb's.

ifish had a few "wacko" guys that can't take no for an answer. The abuse that lady has been exposed to by a couple of them is beyond what you can probably imagine. It's too bad that such a very few have to find it their need to be such horses tails, crave so much attention and display know-it-all attitudes. When asked to refrain the responses were crude , unmanly and cowardly. The attempts to sneak back on the board continued. These boards are a heck of a lot of work to keep in good order. Bob and Jen are very generous with their time and effort to provide something good for all of us. I am extremely proud to say I have the privilege to be registered on both of these great boards. I'm sorry that some of you are having to give more information than in the past to get registered. I guess we can call it paying the price for havoc caused by others.
It is unfortunate that registration had to be
altered on Jen's board, but it is for the best of reasons in my opinion.

I've been on Ifish for a bit now, and joined because Bob's board is pretty much from the Cowlitz north. I peruse Jen's board so I can garner some information about the Columbia and that area.

My only concern with Ifish (and it's not REALLY a concern) is that it is pretty heavily moderated for content, i.e., language and innuendos. I understand, however, that the board is read by grade school youngsters, so therein lies some responsibility. But when I am I'm pissed about something I want to express myself clearly and consisely. Sometimes that is best done with what others refer to as vulgarity. I refer to it as clear speech.

The other thing I've noticed, and I believe this may have been partly Fish Jesus' problem, is there seems to be a small contingent of members with conservative religious beliefs. Nothing wrong with that; it is their right. But they may have had a problem with FJ's use of Jesus in his moniker. Purely speculation on my part, however.

But what if FJ was Hispanic?

Oh, and I have not received any spam from any of Jen's sponsors, either.

I am a member of both this board as well as Ifish. I enjoy both very much and find both boards very different stylistically. If I were to try to join Ifish now under the new rules I would more than likely not be able too and that would be my loss. Jen has to put up with a lot of troublemakers (including me) and if restricting admission makes it easier to keep things under control then so be it.

I have never been spammed from Ifish

Each board takes on the personality of its manager and his/her moderators.

Both PP and IF have a different flavor to them.
For what it's worth, to me PP has more fishing related stuff and less peripheral content.

Pick what you like, or both, and go for it.

We should all count our blessings that people like Bob and Jennie are willing to do so much work to provide these wonderful forums for us all.

I've been a member of i-fish for several yrs now and have never been bothered by i-fish sponsers, its a good board with good people give it a try. There has been trouble there by a few and there just trying to keep it a family board.I joined this board a few yrs ago and quit because of all the arguements this board has changed alot since then and I come here as much as the i-fish bd now.I post more on i-fish because the rivers we talk about here are a lot closer, other then the Kalama and lewis,I don't really or have never fished the other rivers. Its still interesting to read about them.I think Bob has done a really good job on this board and you all should be very happy with it.Yes this bd. is a little more liberal then i-fish but there's nothing wrong with that either.
