I've been reading the reports about Rufus Woods. Knowing some of the guys on this board have probably been there, I was looking for some more info.

What's the best time of year?
Didn't the state record rainbow just get caught 28 #s ?
Are people trolling with downriggers?

Any information would be helpful. I'm planning to go over there this spring

Thanks

Have seen the pic but not so sure if it made the record book. That fish had the girth of a salmon and a head of a ten# trout.
My best time has been the spring. Fish them like you would any other trout lake.Rapalas 11 or better, still fish power bait/mallows and worms below the net pens. Or bottom walkers and double wammies/wed.rings. Have also been schooled by a good cured egg.

Thanks for the info. Where do you stay and how far is it to the net pens? Is that the best place to fish. Does it get rough, we have a 10' Livington?

Wel went to the tackle shop after I last posted. It was actually a 31pound fish when cauhgt but when it was finnaly/officialy weighed a day later it was 29 pounds.Caught from the shore. Supposedly with a bobber an jig. The livingston should be all right. Hopefully you have enough uuumph. The big dam releases alot of water which makes for some good flow. normally we stay at the dam. There is a good ramp just down from Elmer city. Or there is a primative one a few miles down from Nespelum on the north side. Should be able to see it from the road. The first set of net pens is a couple miles down from the Elmer ramp. And the 2nd set of pens is a couple down from the primative ramp.Have had better luck at the 2nd net pen in the past. Oh, and also, word has it that the bank bite has been the best.
Good luck and let us know!
