Been a while since I've had some new videos up for those of you who like LONG downloads or have broadband connections:

The "Chin Brothers" always seem to get the duty of rising some of the wild stuff out here as you may have seen in the past from our video gallery section whitewater videos.

Today was no exception and we've got a couple of videos for you. It was supposed to be one long video but the last cast at the start of the rockpiles that lead into the final long drop of the rapid produced a fish for us ... the first video (about 12 megs) is Luke hanging on for dear life to both the fish and the boat as we weave inbetween the rocks trying to find a soft enough piece of water to land the fish.

Not a terribly huge fish (he got a dandy later smile , look for pix on reports page soon), a buck of 7-8 pounds ... I don't think he'll forget what he went through to get this fish in though!

The second video, much longer (almost five minutes worth and roughly 30 megs) is our run through the rest of the boiling waters after we pull back into the current.

Not many rocks showing today ... but lots of roaring water and a glimpse of some water that always makes for some giggles on our way through it!

Probably best to right click on these links and "Save Target as ..." to your desktop so that the entire file will download before you view it smile

Luke with Fish

Lots of white water!

Zzzzzzzzzzzz. Looked like fun, but hardly the "white water" I was hoping for. I had to admit though, every time I felt myself wanting to make a current/position change, you were already in the process. Learned a little bit, and enjoyed the (mild) ride. Thanks for sharing.

Bob,
Both are great video's. Being as I'm not very familiar with the OP rivers, would you mind telling me where those shots were taken. I would just love to take my cataraft through that stuff. My heart was racing just thinking about it, as I was watching the movies.

Wednesday Bob, Wednesday! Looks like the weather and rivers are not consipring against us this time! I'll be sure to have both the digital camera and camcorder all charged up and ready to go! Should be a good day out on the river.

Yes, it was Hell's Half Mile on the SF Calawah Big Shark. Have at it Back Eddy beer ... that's probably the highest level that we've had fishable (vis) water and just about every rock was under water. I guarantee you your buns will pucker in there right now wink

Wouldn't advise a trip up that way catarafter unless you know exactly where you are going or if every rock is submerged as they were in the video ... and usually the river is puke brown when at those flows, just a quirky set of conditions that had that much volume with okay vis.
