This is a lettrer that i wrote that i was compelled to send to a couple of local news stations. Thanks to Sky-Guy for the quote.
"Dear News Broadcaster,
I am a 16 year old that is very patriotic and would have no problem joining the army if our nation was in trouble. I would be willing to fight for our freedom like people in my family before me have so people after me could live how i did. And this is what i think about some of the terrorist issues that you have been reporting on lately:
While watching your news broadcasts lately i have noticed that terrorism is a big subject these days and you have been reporting on it alot as you should be, but i believe that there is a point where ratings, selling stories to newspapers and other related things needs to come to a stop and you need to be an AMERICAN! Report things how they really are and don't sugar coat them or make everybody scared. When we as Americans get scared over terrorism issues that news places like you make worse, then the terrorists WIN, is that what you are looking for?
The thing that bugs me is the sensationalism this type of media renders inside people could potentially motivate someone to attack us.
In some cases the media almost exposes our vulnerabilities as a nation to the point where they're saying "Attack us here and do it this way."

I think we would all be better off if the media could report on news without blowing all of these stories into worse-case scenarios. It gives freaks that do live in America bad ideas.

So I hope this e-mail changes your decision somewhat, you start feeling some sense of patriotism, and you report the FACTS. Please write me back on your thoughts if so desired."

I don't know how much good it will do but i had to say something to them i so fed up.

What's even more frightening, is that alot of these reporters actually believe the stuff they're writing!

We need to live our lives without fear, because there are a zillion ways we can be killed, and if we were to worry about everything that might get us, we wouldn't have much of a life. It also helps to have faith in God. That's what gets me through everything.

Well said Vic! Kinda like the t.v. phenomina, if you don't like the station or feel you shouldn't be exposed to it change the channel or atleast in this case, the thread--> there are many others to chose from just on this forum alone! Or you can always go to another one -website that is.... Heck, you can even start your own thread here on Bob's page! Imagine that Keta!? Instead of complaining be positive/pro-active and start one you'd like to see. We could all do more of that. Maybe they should ban negative/critical opinions(no matter the subject -inc. fishing) from being written here on Bob's page. How about that for a limit on material that can be expressed on this particular forum? Is that not a legitimate request from other members or the mediators? But again, everyone's opinion including yours is allowed to be expressed due in part to the good folks who run this webpage and the liberties our nation gives us. Appreciate the fact that people on this forum have legitimate concerns of life in general and would whole heartedly want to express the occasional voice with regards. It is because they find they like the opinions and support of the folks found here on this website and couldn't find another group of people more in tune with what they like and think. That might be why they pose it here vs the Seattle Times. I'm sure there will be plenty of fishing threads. It's not like your going to attract a bunch of debators or random people to this forum ever. No invasions here, -it's a fishermens site. Think don't blink. Thanks to all.

I just want to thank all of you that responed to this thread with all the positive comments about how you feel. This is a great country we live in and I believe at times people forget just how good we have it here. And yes , everyone is intitled to their own opinion on what should be dicussed. There have been times that I've thought that the topics get off base, but I keep it to myself for a person should not be restricted in subject matter.
Even though I 've never met alot of the people who visit this site, I do believe I'd be hard pressed to find a better bunch of folks than you all! Thanks everyone.

I like General Swortzkovs' (sp?) qoute about the terrorist after 9/11: It is not for us to judge them for what the did. That is Gods' job. But it's up to us to arrange the meeting!

I have heard that quote before. Kind of sums it all up.
