Hey parker are you fishing that worm under a float or are you drift fishing with it.

Pink worm on a jig head under a float can be deadly too...TM

I fished with a guide several years ago and he had the hook threaded in the upper part of the worm and the rest (most) of the worm was hanging down and wobbling. Has any one tried it that way. I am sure they all work as long as the fish grabs the hook but if the fish nibbles the lower end, then the way shown here might be better.

Timber man speak truth. Pink worm on jighead under float nearly idiotproof, and effective. It worked for this goober.

went out sunday and tossed pink worms all day... missed one strike and landed one 12# chromer...i prefer to only thread about 1.5" of a 4" worm onto the leader, leaving the tail to wiggle freely...when possible i run a double hook setup so the trailing hook is just above the bottom of the worm...drifted or under a float, worms are a very productive bait

OMG Parker is a fellow Strongbad fan! Ha.

Oh yeah, fish pink worms for all kinds of species, not just steely's. Fish right side up when drift fishing with a cheater or corkie, fish it upside down with about half the worm dangling under a float. For a cheap humpy bait use a pink worm over a 1/4 oz jig head!

Questions for BG, TM, or others who have fished the worm with a quarter ounce jig head.

I've put cut-down, smaller 4" worms on jigs but I seem to miss a lot of fish. Seems to me that the fish were smacking at the tail of the worm...which was well below the hook. How do you get around that?

How are you guys rigging these worms and what worms are you using?

I'd really like to try this on the Quinault and SR this spring.

I like to thread the pink worm with the tail pointing up at an angle as shown in the picture below. This helps eliminate the short biters.

I like the idea of the tail pointing up like the above picture. Might have to try it. That one looks like a Berkley to me, my favorite pink worm.

The pink worm in the picture above is the Berkley 4" Power Bait . It's a very durable worm that can withstand a lot of abuse.

When I first saw that worm/hair combo in the pic of this thread I thought that was the goofiest looking thing I've ever seen. But it makes sense as far as keeping the tail up near the hook. I've also had good luck with those Berkely worms also cut off at the neck like that one but have never left the tip up like that.

And I don't really think I've had that many short biters. They usually whack 'em pretty good. Maybe I've missed a lot of takedown that I thought were rocks....wouldn't surprise me. I also like pink sluggos.
