The funny thing is I use my right hand for spinning reels and my left hand for baitcasters. I can't figure out why that is.OH Well it works.

I can do either/or. When I'm casting, I like to hold the rod and cast with my right hand so I use a left handed reel. For saltwater, I use a right handed reel.

After several days this past winter of casting spinners and plugs for silvers, my right elbow started giving me problems (tedonitis, I think). A couple years ago I made the switch on my baitcasters so I was cranking with the left hand, just like all my spinning outfits.

After losing a large steehead a couple weeks ago, my right arm completely gave out, and it was all I could do to cast. So I traded one of my left-handed Curados for a nice right-hand retrieve baitcaster, and caught 3 steelhead last weekend - all casting with my left hand. Just took a little practice.

I was always taught to have the pole in your strong hand for better hooksets. Therefore I hold the pole with my right and reel with my left. I get a kick out of watching "misguided people cast with their right hand then switch hands to reel. Dummydogs. You could miss fish during the ol switcharoo.
