It was a choppy & cold start to the derby today, and the fishing was fun, the catching could have improved however. Alot of fisherman ended up with this face on after the waves bumped up. It seems as if area 10 is dead...At least today it was...That's safely said when you put 50 or so experienced Salmon fishermen/women out there and only 2 fish were weighed.

Great job putting the derby together Sky-Guy. Hope we all can do this as much as the river boys do the flotilla's. Had a great time despite the broken window it still has me how a 32 year old window that has been through twice if not more severe weather just blows. Well its better then a drive or motor I guess and thank god I work for a glass manufacturing company so this will not cost anything. Thanks again it was fun and was nice to meet some of you guys now we have a face to go with the name. KFM

Thanks again Sky-Guy, that was alot of fun, you did a great job putting that together. , I had a great time today. Our scorecard today was 6-7 shakers with none of them even close to measureable.

Erndog- Great job on the first place finish! Wish I could have made it out to meet everyone, always next time. The birthday party went great, we now officially have a teenage daughter; I officially have some extra fishing passes!
Condolences for a teenage daughter may be sent to steve@omegaconsultantsinc.com. Donations are gladly accepted.

The derby was a lot of fun, fishing was great as usual, catching was poor. We thought about giving my 21 " a chiropractic adjustment, but better sense prevailed. I think we could have won a flat fish derby though! Sky Guy it was great to meet you and the others at the Sloop. Great job and thanks for all the work. -rbf

Thanks for the Hard Work SkyGuy.
And a Huge Thank You to FishSlayer75 for dragging the Ballard 'Ho back to Shilshole. I wasn't on it but my good friends Davie, Byron and The Smurf truly appreciated it. Huge Karma Points.
I suppose you could have been a little easier on 'em on the Pool Table!

Check this out - Kind of confirms FS75's theory that the fish have moved North -
Results of the Stanwood Hotel Derby which was conducted on Feb 22 and Feb 23 in Marine Areas 8-1 & 8-2: First place was an impressive 20 lb 8 oz fish taken from Elger Bay by Guy Mossington; 2nd place was 16 lb 8 oz caught by Ben Vinning and 3rd place went to Wayne Logsdon with a fish weighing 15 lb 7 oz. A total of 36 fish were entered.

Damn, one area turns off and the one next door turns on. I guess Erndog's Fish was lost then huh? For the next derby we can chat about a good fishery and when to hold the derby. That way we can drag fish in to be weighed instead of dragging our tails in to get sloshed cause we didnt catch a fish. Still had a great time!

Sorry I didn't make it to the Sloop for weigh in, but how can you justifi a big fat zero for weight? I ran all the way over to Manchester first thing and it was nice and flat. Next thing I know. I'm looking at some pretty nasty white caps out towards the middle!!!! It took me well over an hour to get back across. So I ran up by 4 mile rock and tried that for a while, but decided to tuck in behind the marina on the south side of Magnolia. Had 2 good fish up to the side of the boat and lost them both!! *&%$#@!!!! Caught a crap load of shakers. Also got skunked on crab traps.

Man, I think mine was the step child left behind on their way to Stanwood. I'm thinking we should all go to Stanwood next year and bring some fish back to area 10.
So when are we planning a Springer road trip. Call it the PP RUN TO THE COLUMBIA or something like that. Be pretty cool to see about 50 boats going down I-5 in a single line. Imagine all the beer drinking at the camp sights. Heck forget cans and bottles, KEG it.
Fish on,
ErnDog
