I need to get a good pair of pliers for punching holes in the top of pencil lead. I bougt a pair today,and they suck. I thought $15 would buy a good pair,but man was I wrong. What kind do you use,and where'd you get em'?

HBP i have a pair that i like pretty well there called lead masters ive had them for quite some time seem to resist corrosion better than some ive had are about medium sized bought them at kitsap sports in silverdale laugh

I feel your pain! I paid top dollar for a stainless steel pair and ended up throwing them away in disgust. The only pair I have that is worth a damn is from Sportco in Fife. Unfortunately, I don't remember the brand name. "Professional something or other". My experience has been to look at the country of origin: China, Pakistan = waste of money. Germany = okay. Anyone have a "good" pair. In my opinion a "good" pair cuts Powerpro line with no effort.

3 Rivers Tackle shop has Lead Masters, as well as a couple of other brands.


I have been using Lead masters for quite some time. They are great. Be sure and get the longer ones, they punch the lead a little easier.

I bought one several years ago from Sportsco and it is called Leadmaster Fishing Pliers. No problem sofar. it was $17?

I made mine......some 15 years ago....still work gr8.....drilled out a pair of needle nose pliers and brazed a roll pin in one jaw...punches hole perfectly.....back of plier jaw crimps hollow core....wire cutter in tact....needle nose functional also...... very simple and effective.....try it, you'll like it. beer

HBP, I found a real good pair down at (beleive it or not) Fred Meyer. They were reasonable price of $18.00. You never know might be worth checking out. beer You know you're gonna need them for friday.
