Alright I usually don't ask about certain rivers but hey my buddy and I have been planning this trip for a while now. Going to the Willamette this weekend for spingers (maybe)! Don't need spots, my buddies dad has been fishing it 40+ years. Question is we have not heard from him in days. Is it and the Calackama going to be chocolate? I don't know anything about these systems. I know there are some dams on these rivers so are the flows controlled? Or should we scrap the trip? And if we scrap the trip where should I head down there?

Will travel to coastal area or Eugene area if needed. What might be a good bet not to be muddy? Any info would be appreciated. You can also send me a private message!

been getting a few on the columbia below bonneville on the WA side. plunking spin and glos and prawns

Yes the Willamette and Multnomah Channel are muddy. The visibility in the Channel was 10.8 inches today and 10.7 yesterday. There are no dams, on the WIllamette down here, but one up on the Clackamas. They are getting a few out in the Columbia, and it is clearing. I would recommend going out of Scappose OR, or Woodland WA and fishing the mouth of the Multnomah channel/mouth of the Lewis area. There are some good hoglines there, and if the Willamette is running chocolate, you can slide out to fish the Columbia water instead. The bankies have done well below Bonneville from the Washington side on and off.
