I know a certain guide who might be considering the same thing this year....there's just too many good holes for that...

...I'll only do it again if everything is perfect....full moon over a stretch that hasn't changed all summer, a stretch I've been running every week. The weather was perfect for it this past fall but flows were ghastly low, too tight a quarters.

Maybe once this fall...

Here is a story...

About 3 years ago we put in at cottonwood on the Hoh. Suprise we were 1st boat during salmon season it definitly was a about an hour before dark thirty...

We launched the boat and decided we were going to run the truck around . Well we had an old scooter that made it about half way back when the piece of $hit broke down in the pitch darkness. Let me warn all of the OP virgins it is twice as dark on the logging roads as it is on the river Oh and thanks to all the "FRIENDLY" guides who passed us and left us to walk in the pitch black that morning.

All and all it was a good day,
Don't worry 1st H2o we limited behind you anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! slap

If you have the GUTS go for it.
In my eyes it is not worth the risk for the "HONEY" hole... flog There is to many salmon out there ( And if you know ow to fish for them you will agree it is not worth putting your clients or your friends life in danger...
Moonlight or not......................... frown

Go for it.

We only live (and die) once and...
If you don't take the chance to enjoy living you may as well be dead.

Would you pass a chance to go fishing
because you might lose some gear a snag?
Plunker (aka DeathWish),

Plunking at night is one thing, running the Double Rapids in the dark is another. I’ll leave the later to the experts. One thing about "Gusty's expert friend" though is that you probably won’t hear him recommending to StlhdH20 or anyone else to "go for it" either, at least not without showing them the way or checking them out first. It’s a good thing that StlhdH20 doesn’t seem like the type to jump off a cliff just because you tell him to.

Life is a precious gift. It is not just a piece of "gear" to be lost in the "snags" of the world. I personally don't see anything noble about dying while running a river unless it was attempting to feed ones family, rescue a fallen comrade or guide someone safely home. Live to fish and love another day. Life is meant to be shared and not just enjoyed at any cost.

Regarding the cost, perhaps we would do well to reread the old post about the fisherman who lost a friends son when their boat went over the diversion dam on the Nooch. Then, ask ourselves if we would have told him to "go for it, cause you and your friends' son only live once and if you don't take the chance you might as well be dead".

Plunker, I don't mean to be harsh, but my hope is that you never feel, as I am sure that fathers' friend now does, that you or a friend wish they had "passed" on that one "chance" to do something chancey. I, like too many others, have other sad stories to tell but I know I can't say it better than Gary said it in his "End of the line" post. I think of you and the others on this board as fishing brothers of mine, and like Gary felt about his brother, I’d like to keep you and the others around as long as God’s willing. Have fun and enjoy life, but be safe and watch your buddy’s six.

Bob, Bob York and I were co-Presidents of the club before it went down. If you get a chance let me know what rigs and boats you have so we could meet. I'm in a old brown fishrite db and a 16'King Runner center console with a 9.9yamaha 4 stroke. Most of the time I'm driveing an old 24'Eldorado motor home but since gas is going up I'll probably use my 89 chev pu. Jim Marquis
