i was fishing there this morning, started at s-curves, worked up to the confluence, threw everything i had at them to no avail...anyway, as i'm standing knee deep in the river right where the forks converge, i notice what appeared to be a sperm sac float by me...hmmm, that's weird...then comes about 5-6 filleted out carcasses...now these were coming from the closed fork, i kicked up what i could on the bank, upon closer examination the carcasses were of native fish(and some good size to them)...they all came down together so i'm wondering that maybe someone may have dumped them in from on the bridge just a few hundred yards upstream...now what the heck is going on here??

How did you know they were wild fish?
Also, isn't the river kinda high right now? I just read 8,000+ cfs on the Satsop? How good is the fishing?

the carcasses had the adipose fin intact, that's how i determined they were wild fish, how else would i know?? the river was real high and swift but visibility was ok up by the park...like i said earlier, i didn't touch a thing all day, but i did talk to a few guys who had hooked 3 but none landed...there were even a few boats out there today

Last year I saw the same sort of thing--a good number of fillets on the East fork. I reported it and later heard that a commerical fish smoker in the area dumps the fish remains in the river. He drops them off the bridge on the Turnow branch and that's probably why you saw them all come down at once. I guess it's better than putting them in the land fill.
