Thought it would be fun to talk about our boats. Brag them up some!! They dont have to be new, or pretty, or even cost much. We all love to be in the and tinker in them when we cant be on the water. Hell, I even climb in mine and just sit there from time to time! (my wife thinks theres something wrong with that...I'll never understand that!) Describe how its set up, or whatever it is that make your boat YOURS. Pictures encouraged.... I'll post mine later.

Good one Elk...

You area not alone about sitting it it... I have been caught doing the same thing but I usually tell her I am tightening something up... laugh

I have a 16' Fiber Form I bought and redid just about everything. I took everything out of the boat. Installed new seats, carpeting, fuel tank. Has two fishfinders, two dr's and Bimini I bought off of ebay for a great deal. I have almost run out of things I can do to it. It sure is a fun boat...

So I have found a new boat that I will hopefully get this summer... Now this will be fun!

Lets see.... Port Gardner Marina.... Nice Arima. Tax return coming soon, maybe I'll beat you there! evil

Just Kidding! My "baby" is a 20 Hewescraft Searunner with a 100hp Yahama 4 stroke and an 8 hp yamaha 4 stroke kicker. It has a "full canvas cover" that can come apart in three pieces. So I can cover the cabin area, tte open bow, or the rear fishing area, either all together or separately. I recently (saturday) installed a new finder (the 240 blue I've been posting all the questions about) I will have a hookup for in at the console and at the rear of the boat for trolling. I have 2 downriggers (manual frown ) but will be upgrading after tax $$$ comes to a scotty electric. I have a gps and marine radio. I LOVE my boat and am not ashamed to been seen sitting in it reading fishing magazines in my driveway! Does that make me a bad person??? confused I'll try and post a picture, maybe someone can help with a name!!

I have a few but my baby is my 1978 20ft searay deep vee. I bought her and the first thing I did was yank out the 2 rear seats on either side of the engine cover. I then added a x-85 F.F, 3 scotty elect. and an OMC hydrolic bracket for the kicker. I put a 02 yami H.T 8 on the back and then installed a TR-1 auto piliot. She is nothing great to look at but she has never let me down. For some reason she is also a fish killing machine (more then any other that I've owned) She will handle anything from the big C to 30 miles out of westport in pretty poor weather. I also have a 02 diamond back drifter and an older 17 ft flat bottom sled. Yeah I've been caught sitting in mine more then once also beer

Hey Pmartin,

When did you buy your Fiberform, and where? Would it by any chance be light blue with an 80hp Merc on the back?

The reason I asked is because I sold my 16' Fiberform (the one I described) to a guy in Lake Stevens about 5 years ago. I loved that old boat too, and sometimes wonder if she's still out catching fish.

I have a plain jane 1997 15' Smokercraft Alaskan SS,with a 1997 oil injected Yamaha 25.
It's not a hole lotta boat, but gets me into fish from all the lakes to the Sound and Seiku. It's done all I ever wanted to do,but the need for a bigger boat is in the near future. I just gotta get my wife to get her act together and get a better job,so I can stay retired and get my new boat. laugh

Just bought a 94 Arima Sea Ranger last fall, 1994 90hp Evenrude, 2003 8hp Honda kicker. 2 electric downriggers, garmin 160 blue finder, vfh and am/fm casset radios. I have only had it out a couple of times since I bought it but it runs good. I have spent most of the winter rewiring the electronics ( the previous owners idea of wiring was find a hot wire, cut it and then twist the new wire to it, use tape if you have any which he usually didn't, don't think he knew what a fuse was). I also relocated my batteries, hooked up the kicker to run off the main fuel tank. The next projects are a black box, GPS chartplotter, possibly trim tabs and putting the name on the side of the boat. Can't wait to get her in the shape I want. I also have spent some time getting the trailer ready with new tires, bearings, bearing buddies and wiring.
Hope to have the "DAWG FISH" ship shape in the next couple of months. beer

4Salt-
I miss my old boat too.... beer When I moved across state to Port Angeles, my needs changed. I kept that boat for one year here. I used it in the strait and even as far out as swiftsure bank! My friends called it the death plank, probably for minimal freeboard I suspect. (It looked like it would take in water on a calm day!) eek It was so low to the water (basically an 18ft jon boat) I actually had a sockeye at lake washington jump in and then bounce out of it.... the fish wasn't even hooked. That right there told me I had a special boat! My wife "forced" me to sell it and but a new boat (twist my arm!) Some guide in Alaska bought it! I know his clients are happy. I had hundreds of ducks, smallmouth, steelies, salmon, and even 2 deer in that boat. I miss her..... cry

Theres nothing wrong with a driftboat! Sometimes you might have to put on raingear so you can go sit in it in the driveway, but thats a minor setback! Actually, whenever I see Lazydrifter (from the board) he is always telling me about the modifications he's making to his driftboat. In fact, I think he's going to make one for me. (He does'nt know it yet though laugh )

Well when the wife and I first bought our 96 Bayliner c Capri open bow 19.5, its was basically for the sunny days. Now that we have a litttle one (3 yr old) it wasn't getting much use. So the boat became mine. Yes I said mine, not ours, not hers, but mine laugh . Man that feels good to say. Lets all say it together MY BOAT hello . Anyways I got tired of the old motor mooching in the sound and tried of adding a bucket to slow me down when trolling. So I added a few things. 2 Cannon Mag 10 elec. DR's, cheap wide 100 Hummingbird (it works for now) & a poor man kicker, Happy Troller Plate. Plus took out the two rear seats for more room. Since adding these fine futures I have become a better salt water fisherman. Heck I won a rod with it. What can I say its paying off for me. Looking to add more to it this summer. Looking to have a full custom top made for those cold Black Mouth days to keep warm and dry.

On a side note, Fishslayer75 is not joking when he says he has a fish catching machine. Everytime I saw him out there, FISH ON.

Fish on,

There are two boats in the driveway. The big one is a 20' '98 Alumaweld Intruder with a 2002 200 Merc and a 8 hp Merc kicker. The little boat is a 14' '89 Lund with a 20 hp Merc. and Minn Kota trolling motor. Love both of them!

Side note: My first boat was a 17' Blue Fin with a 90 Evinrude, 8 hp kicker, live well, depth finder, two downriggers and full canvas. At my divorce trial, my ex cried to the judge, "can I please have the boat? I really intend to take the children fishing". She got the boat............and then sold it two months later. mad

I would just like to say one thing here. Kinda cool that we all have a great deal of vearying opinions..BUT I think we can all agree on one thing

That is what bonds us, as fisherpeople... fishing, our boats, dreams of 'THE BOAT' or the first boat. The bragging factor and willingness to share things we have learned to make others fishing trips that much more enjoyable.

Oh and the one that got away!!

So, to all, good luck and tight lines.

Eventhough .MY 1970 Fiberform is the nicest fish slayin' machine on the water... wink :p

Of course untill I upgrade.. beer

Nice fishing platform, she just can't take the pounding that she used to. Yes, this thread comfirms I'm not alone as far as fixating on boats and my next fishing trip.

I also have a pontoon boat that I'll try out lake fishing once the sound closes down.

Here's my mistress... The Salmonator

She's a wee bit over 16' powered by a 50 Merc
which trolls down perfectly. On a flat day, she'll do 37-38 mph without skipping a beat. A little bumpy in the chop, but who cares when the fishing is good or the weather is nice?

Two Scotty electrics DRs, Scotty Black Box, VHF, H'bird Fish Finder (ok laugh- I like the tri-beam), GPS (hand held), live well used as fish (or crab) box.

I can fly fish from the bow... I have even had wake boarders in tow

She'll launch anywhere!

Plenty of fish blood stains too...

Homesick now...

Sitting in a parked boat daydreaming - glad to hear I'm not alone! thumbs

Sold a 16 foot fiberform (great boat) and got an 18 foot Seaswirl last year. A real fishing machine, perfect for the sound. Dreams of doing some San Juan gunkholing this year...

Then for the rivers a 15 foot Klamath with 50 hp jet. I call it "tin can" because if I run into anything it's going to dent! But, it is easy to launch and perfect for small lakes also.

Then there's the old 16 foot wooden sail boat I built back in 1982. It's sitting under a tarp in the back yard. Can't sell something that I took almost two years to build. So it sits waiting for the day I get an uncontrolable urge to go sailing...

I have a 2002 15' Smokercraft Tracer powered by a 25HP Yami 4 Stroke. 2 forward mounted box seats with 2 removable pedastal seats in the back. 2 Big Jon Electric Captains Pac downriggers and Hummingbird FF. (VHF Radio on the way). Doesn't do 100 mph but moves along pretty well. Clocked it at just under 24MPH with a hand held GPS. It works out well because I get to go out with Dangeeerous Dave in his beautiful 22' Trophy or Rick 68's 22' Bayliner when the water gets too rough for my boat, and they fish out of my boat on trips to the Columbia, Cowlitz or Wind River!

My boat is 31 years old and may be the heaviest driftboat in the state...which suits me.

It sure is a pig though...

Gets me on the river, gives me an opportunity to fish with my son (all too rarely these days frown ) and into fish...what more could I ask for really?

Just got my first boat less than a year ago. 1987 Boston Whaler Revenge cuddy. 20' I had to compromise family boat and fishing boat. I think I got the best of both worlds. It has 200 hp Mariner and 9.9 Mariner that starts on first pull every time. So far so good need windshield wiper and drop curtain for blackmouth fishing. unfourtnatly that may have to come after I build my house. Very clean solid boat for its age.

I've got an 8ft. Water Skeeter Snohomish that i bought for $400.00 "new". I bought it from Oregon Fishing, but it had been opened up as a demo boat in a store so it was discounted from $600. I just bought it at the begining of winter so I haven't had very much time to use it...Yet.
My other boat is a 12' fiberglass P.O.S. rowboat I got for $30 that i use when the river gets lower. I stick an electric motor on it and go up and down the river retrieving all the gear that people lost during the winter runs.

Got my first "real" boat two years ago. 15' Arima Seahunter 70hp Johnson and matching 6hp Johnson kicker. Custom full-canvas with backdrop and trailerable cover, rhino-lined floor, two electric Cannon downriggers, black box, fishfinder and gps. I bought the whole setup for $4500. The catch? Boat and motors are 1984 although most people think mid-90s. Receive compliments everytime out. Awesome 2 person fishing rig for the Puget Sound.

Hey guys, there are a lot of good boats on record here so I would love to brag about mine. I have a 19 ftl glassply, 1975, with a 135 Evinrude. Two penn downriggers and full canvas top. I dumped the boat on the Narrows bridge 20 minutes after buying it and after two hours and many friendly waves from passersby we towed the boat home. We call it the Narrow Escape. If you see me out there give me aholler. I fish out of Port Madison on Bainbridge Island. I am looking for a new motor any suggestions would be welcome.

17 foot canoe with camo paint job, and a 12 foot john boat whose hole has been patched with JB weld. Got lots a friends with nice boats. They pay the bills, I bring food, pop, beer, gas money. Great deal for me. Neither of my bots have ever been out of commision due to mechanical failure.

First of all:
BADDAWG: That wouldn't happen to be a 17' Arima would it? See you in church Sunday?

Second, the boat:
A heavy 1977 18' fiberglass Wacanda tri-hull (large open area to move around) with '78 85 hp Johnson main and '83 9.9 hp electric start Johnson kicker.

Does 28 mph with 2 people aboard, according to handheld GPS. Can seat all 7 of the family and still have room for crabbing/fishing. Does the trick for now.

Have $2600 invested so far. Next on the list are two DR's (debating on manual vs. electric, Cannon vs. Scotty) and an upgrade from an old Eagle Supra Pro F.F. to a Garmin 160 or 260 Blue.

Next boats: 17'/18' aluminum for the rivers/lakes, 28'/32' fiberglass for the salt.

Being fairly inexperienced in salt fishing, I would like to find someone to go out with that is willing to show me some techniques and, demonstrate the pros/cons to the DR's listed above.

The weather here reguires a little more protection. i found a 18 ft star craft with a bad motor (ran but would not shift). closed bow full top , great boat for the area. $500.. I swapped the engines and sold the 16ft for $500.. If I show up at your yard sale ...run. the boat has been great. depth finder, two doenriggers lots of room to fish. i just love the damm thing. how do we post pics on this site hello

Mine is a 16'9" Lund Laker. It is set up for both mooching and downrigger fishing. It also serves as a great boat to fly fish out of for Sea-Run Cutts, Coho etc. I have a 50 Merc ELPTHO on it with a 1977 Envinrude 6 h.p. kicker. The kicker motor never stops - they built them good back them. I'll try to add a picture of it.

I'm with Erndog, mine is a 89' 19.5' Bayline Capri. It has a 2.3ltr Ford, so trolls for several days on a tank of gas. I upgraded to electronic ignition so no more changing points, purs like a kitten most of the time. I have a Cannon UniTroll manual rigger and a Cannon DigiTroll electric, both ebay scroungers, looking for another electric I can afford. It is a summertime family boat, pulls tubes and skiiers on Saturday, and kills fish on Sunday. I upgraded the Humminbird 100 to a 3D Paramount, love the three dimenisonal view. Looking to get a GPS soon, and a VHF radio. The top is rotted, so leaks but a little Deft has slowed it down a lot. The upholstery is getting pretty tattered, so don't care about blood and scales, they add character. Takes anything the Sound can dish out, have taken water over the bow with no problems, bow cover installed of course! Items to get include-kicker motor and/or trolling plate, GPS, VHF, new bigger top, HEAT. Yep, going to install a heating system for these cold ass winter BM trips some day!

Hey. This is Matt. Are you using your digital or scanning? All you have to do is download the picture to the uploader and it should come up to where you type in your email adress. When you do that it will send an email to you and it will have a webpage that you copy. When you copy it, go to reply and down below the add reply box, where it says Options, there is a box you click on that says add picture. You click on that and you paste the webpage into the box that shows up and press enter. Then it should work. If it doesnt I'll come back on and see what happened.

Check with your dad and see if he's got room for me over spring break! Thats about the only wednesday I can do. We can trade trips, I'll take you guys out flyfishing at Neah Bay this summer in exchange. BUT YOU BETTER NOT PUKE IN MY BOAT!!! flog I'll try and get a picture up, if not I might email it over to you and see if you can do it for me.. When are you wanting to build that rod? Just let me know and we'll get it done.

Later.

Two boats in the driveway. 1999 21 foot Northwest Jet Signature series. Loaded. Full enclosed with CB, CD, Bottomline, GPS, sleeper seats. Fish deck. 350 chevy with Hamilton 212 pump. 9.9 4 stroke Merc kicker. I use it for sturgeon fishing on the Snake and also on lakes. Also run on the Salmon in bigwater.

16 ft Alumaweld drift boat. Green, Dead head sticker on the back. Nice dent on left front.. 15 years of pure fun. Its the boat that catches the fish... If I could only have 1 toy and had to get ride of the rest its the one I could not live without

Anyone else have a pretty seriously beat-up 16' Willie and a worn out pair of Sawyers? No heater, no top, no fish box, no net?

My other boat is a Hodgemans. They're really fun to float downstream in! Shipping water in the winter can get a bit on the chilly side, though!

Just got a new boat yestereday - 16 foot Smokercraft Lodge. Same hull as your's DR, but all wide open, no windshield or anything to get in the way. I'm going to run it with my 25 Yami 4 stroke, and for now I troll with it too - that 25 will troll at less than 1 mph. I use manual Penn 'riggers and have no intention of getting electrics - I don't mind the exercise. And I actually like the Humminbird fish finder - especially the sidescan. And I really like the Garmin Map76 GPS.

Just put the seats, motor, rod holders, tanks, and anchor release on it today, tomorrow I'm installing the fishfinder, bilge pump, and wiring it, and then it will be ready for the CR next weekend. I'll put the downriggers on it later - SS T nuts haven't arrived yet.

Might put it in the water late tomorrow jsut for the hell of it - no numbers yet though so I'll have to be sneaky <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" />
