If you had to choose only one lure to legally fish for salmon & steelhead in WA rivers for the rest of your life, what would it be? You can fish with it any way you like.

Money is not an issue so you don't have to select a cheap lure. Since bait is very effective I didn't include it. Also no nets.
If I missed a good lure may be we can add it.

The goal is to maximize your catch.

Excellent question. I am amazed at the early result. After five votes all five were for the same lure. Pretty impressive. vote of confidence for my favortie lure.

I'm a little surprised with the votes, too. My second choice was the favorite. My first choice is still more versatile. I think the votes represent more steelhead anglers than salmon anglers. Perhaps there should be two polls, one for steelhead and one for salmon.

Just a thought. cool

Wow, I see how little I know wink

I too would have much rather seen a poll for salmon only or steelhead only ... but I didn't make the rules smile

A tough decision actually as I didn't choose what I know to have been the most productive as the most enjoyable for me to fish combined with decent productivity.

Next time you need a category for that special rig: you know, the pink worm fly pulled behind a diver tipped with shrimp with a small colorado blad on a clevis in front, oh yeah with a little yarn tied onto the hook too laugh

Naturally, I'm a big fan of lures and jigs. Also, nothing beats a keg of worms and some phy-tow-plank-ton! wink

Strongbad and his jig!

I thought about having salmon and steelhead category and also bankies vs boaters. For example plugs are very effective for boaters and not much use for bankies. Then I decided to keep it simple and make it tough on you guys to decide what the most versatile lure is. I flip-flopped myself before casting my vote and my favorite was way behind but it is catching up laugh

I can't believe you guys actually have THE Strongbad on this forum. Wow. hello

My son will be impressed. He and I spent about 45 min. one night on the website.

The jig was good but I especially like the "phy-tow-plank-ton." Very cool -- Uh I mean bad -- Uh...

I am in Oregon and am usually on ifish.net. I am going to have to visit here more.

I think the best over-all is that little 1/4 in. bright red corky with a #2 green hook.

'course then ya have to hang all that other stuff on it like line, lead, a big ol' rod and a reel.

My go-to lure isn't on there. That's fine with me - don't want anybody to know about it anyway <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" />
