We are going to take a trip to the coast sometime after the May 1st opener and the wife and I will be on the hunt until then for a good charter to use. Any good trips experiences out there from last year?? Any and all input appreciated!!

FB2 , Search the web for westport charters there is alot of good boats there and limits are the norm. Make reservations early because they usually book up fast and the season is short unless they have an early king fishery like last year. Halibut trips run about $150 per person, so fish LARGE baits for a better chance at a bigger fish. $150 is alot for a 20 lbs. fish and the average is usually around 25lbs. I like the 14" B-2 squid jig it usually picks up a forty to fifty pounder every trip. I will make a couple of trips in my own boat and sometimes have room for extras so if you can't find a charter drop me an e-mail and I will see what I can do.

I would recommend the Freedom out of Westport with Capt. Chuck Custer. We have a group that goes out with him twice a year, once Halibut and once for Bottom fishing. Awesome everytime!! Great boat + great Captain + great deck hands = Great trips! You can bookhim through.
