Hey Sparkey,

I have a 2 LL Bean fly rods that I've had for around 20 years and just took them out of the package today. So, I guess they are brand new but old.

The ferrels do not go together completely.

Should I sand down the male end or just cram them together? I am worried that if I cram them it might break something. Or do I send them to somebody that does fly rod work?

These are graphite rods and seem to be high quality.

I do not think I will ever use them but would like to see what they feel like.

Goin' to the expert, eh?? laugh

Anyways...I would actually call up LL Bean and see if you can ship them back. If they are 20 years old, they are probably pre-Lifetime Warranty but you never know...I know LL Bean's customer service is second to none.

some of them don't go together completely as they were made that way. Guess whether you were having a problem or not would depend on what "not completely" means. If it's about 80% or greater than it might be as designed.... if less or lots less... then Sparkey's suggestion of sending it back is the best one.
