Well next Sunday get's the summer fisheries started so was wondering....where are you planning on fishing this Sunday??? I myself won't be fishing anywhere this Sunday as I will be at the Gorge for the Brooks and Dunn concert, but starting on the 2nd I will start hitting Southworth for some Chinookie! Hope this summers fishing lives up to the pre-season forecast.

I was just at the Gorge last weekend and managed to make it to Nunnally Lake. Only had about an hour to fish, but boy was I impressed by the trout cruising on the bank. You could see them, plain as day. One appeared to be 24"s easy....

The plan at this point is to launch at Redondo and fish that general area for blackmouth. Does anyone know if there are springers still showing at this time of year?

You found that place, huh, Old Man? Nice piece of water. I was thinking of hitting it myself, but you probably get up earlier than me........so I'll let you have 'er. wink

It doesn't matter so much where you go........it's just being out there chasing them again.

Do you ever miss winter-run fishing when you can sleep until a halfway decent hour? Damn it gets light early now. sleep

If you are fishing Redondo and south you have a good chance to get a late springer.

I will be fishing Pt. D with a couple of friends (that's the only way we can afford the launch fee) on Sunday.

You will have to get up early to beat me.I will be camping on the river,a mile or so up from the last access. That should give me plenty of time have a cup of coffee and get going at my own pace.miss the days of sleeping in and fishing for winter fish? No.I miss the sound only our local birds can make at daybreak in the spring.Should I wear my waders or my shorts?I love that question. And you can't tell me that the beers at the end of a warm spring day do not taste much better.

Plus I must add that I have not steelhead fished since I think the end of dec.I feel a like a kid again.sleeping is getting harder to do the closer I get to leaving!

DR,
Since you can't be chasin' Chinook right now, you and DD should go after some Mahi! I did it a lot when I was stationed out there.. mighty tasty on the grill with a cold one beer I bet they have a freezer in the mess that would hold some too!!

We'll be somewhere south of the Narrows Saturday for the closer, and maybe north of the Narrows Sunday for opener. Put a 10.5lb springer in the box on Saturday, going for a couple more this weekend. If I make it out Sunday morning, probably at PT. D. I'll look for you Carl and the EasyLimits boat. I'll bring the coffee!

JR,

Went out last Sunday targeting Marlin.
Only got two really nice Yellow Fin... No Mahi, no Marlin. Did manage a classic Guam 2nd degree sun burn with the SPF 45 on... go figure.

Heh Carl,....looks like I'll be down there early. Will you be on ch. 68? If so, give me a yell. We'll be fishing the first tide change and probably launching out of Redondo.

Since the Hallie-but is getting a new engine, we will be taking out my Gregor to start off the north end of Vashon and head south.

Hope it isnt a total zoo out there.

I am soo glad salt water salmon season is back!

Between Sky-Guy at the North end of 11, me in the middle and Easy Limit/Juggernaut/Steve at Pt D, we should have the area pretty well covered. I will monitor 68 and let everyone know if I'm having any luck.

I,ll be comiing out of Gig Harbor, and probably may mooch with the rest of the crowd. Then I may go out on the flats and hook up the downriggers, and troll for a while.
Then at slack I will probably jet on down to Pt. Evans and break out the jigging rod and the dart. Hope I can hook into something worthwhile this way, but then again, it will be a great day just getting away in the old haunts again.
I will give you guys a shout on vhf 68, as the FishNg1, aka Steve Ng

I'll be in my Campion 215 - 150 evinrude.
