You just can't make such a blanket kind of statement about people because they may have come here from another state. Yes there are people here who have come from California who want to "lock" up their property and keep other people out, but there is just as many here who don't!

I take it you consider Weyerhaeuser to all be "Californians" too, because they also have locked and posted all of there property too. Your right about hitting a nerve! I came from California, and I came here over 18 years ago to settle down in Toledo. I don't recall one person on our board that has fought any harder than I have to keep our public access open to our public waterways and lands. So, yea, I do get a little excited when people make blanket statements about, a race, or the state where someone had come from.

I own a nice home and 5 acres that has a year round creek running through it. Do I want people that I do know or have not given permission to walking through or across my property? NO!

Would you?

The creek that I am referring to is defiantly not "navigable" and has a man made 80 foot straight down cement sliding shoot that the City of Toledo had put in where it enters the Cowlitz River. The creek come right out of and underground spring that Toledo used to get their drinking water from. In all, the creek is only about a mile and half long. Now this is a perfect example of where the general "public" does not have access rights to a creek, stream, or river, and it could not fall into a "navigable" water classification.

It1CLEO, you have to remember one thing; "A person is guilty of criminal trespass in the second degree if he "knowingly enters" or remains unlawfully in or upon premises of another under circumstances not constituting criminal trespass in the first degree" This appears to be what you had probably unknowledgeably been doing for many years at this spot.

Sorry to give you the appearance that I am jumping on you, but maybe now you can understand why I took such a position. By the way, did you get a chance to ask the landowner for permission to cross over yet? If not, keep us posted and let us know what they say (and where they came from).

My statement was not a blanket statement although I could see how it would be taken as such.

"God help me if I find out he is just another selfish californian"

If I find out he is...That means that I will make that judgement after I talk to him.I take everybody black, white,Iranean, and yea californian for who that person is not any thing else.

You have to understand that kitsap county including bainbridge island is not toledo. We have been inundated with californians that taken there real estate investments, moved over here because there investment goes three four times as far as it would in California. That is smart investment in it self.

Not all people can handle that jump in value and some aquire an arogant,I am better than you attitude.Often they show up in local pollitics and try to change the local comunities over to what they were used to down south. They were just lowly middle calss down south but because the differances in economy up here, are upper middle class. They think this gives rights and more of a say in matters than the third generation family of the erea.A guy gets tired of it.

This property I am refering to has been used by fishermen since the fifties.Bill herzog has logged countless hours on this property. It has untill just this last two years been forest and nothing else. Then the first roads came in to the canyon edge. Now this last year it has been laid out for developement.I have not walked it but I am guessing four or five one acre lots.He has ran the power water etc.now the signs that say no fishing hunting or trespassing.I used to hike out to the main road here.People would ask me how the fishing was.Now there is a big sign that says private road and a fancy steel gate.

Yay it hurts.Yay I get emotional as I learned how to steelhead fish here. The place I had planned on laying my dog to rest is on this property.

Yes I will still take every californian for who he is.99.9% of them I will welcome.Cannot blame somebody for wanting to leave California, even if it means that where I grew up becomes just like that **** hole.
