Looking to hit one of these rivers this weekend and wanted to find out if they are producing? I heard the Lewis was pretty good a couple of weeks ago but have not talked to anyone lately. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Cowlitz is pretty slow. I keep in touch with a retired guy that fishes it 3-4 days a week and he says it has been pretty tough lately.

I swung by the Barrier Dam on Saturday about 10am and there were about 10 bank fisherman and 3 boat trailers in the parking lot.

Frank at Fish Country also says it's been bad.

Lewis is just as bad, I fished it all day saturday from the hatchery down to the city of woodland (long ways) and saw only 3 caught, but they were all big chrome hogs.

Thanks lewis_river_fisher_josh! At 1250 CFS I take it you floated the river in a drift boat? Was their many sleds running the river? I have a pontoon boat and a sled but I'm a little skittish about running the sled at that level. Did you spot many fish in the tailouts or was there just not a lot of fish around? Thanks.

There are fish in the river. Not as many as last year, but a enough to make a good day out of it.

Like any other river, the people that really know the river are probably doing really well.

Stlhdr1, his Dad, and I hit 10 in a day last week. We boated a few, lost a few, had a couple of recyclers, and a few hot chromers.

Bankies will probably have a really hard time, as most holes only have a fish or two in it, if you're lucky.

People in boats will have a better shot, as they can move to find fish.

Parker,

Thanks for the info. It's good to know there are still a few moving up river. I decided to fish the mouth of the Lewis last Thursday evening. We were the only boat trolling and managed to put a nice 9 pound chromer in the boat. I forgot how damn hard those summers fight!!!! Not bad for a couple of hours fishing and the nice part was we had it all to ourselves.
