Hi.

Anybody have any idea whatsoever as to how folks are doing for shad (from a boat especially) right now right below McNary Dam on the Columbia?

Something like 58,000 shad (wow) went over McNary on a recent day (Bonneville was down to only 16,000 yesterday!)

During this period (right now is PROBABLY McNary's peak period?), how does McNary compare to Ives Island (Shad Rack) below Bonneville during Bonneville's peak of around mid-June?

One of the best web sites in the state here guys!

Thanks!

When I was guiding out of Hermiston in the early 90's, the shad fishing was fantastic below the dam. Then they built a fish separation facility and changed the shoreline and basically wiped out the area used for fishing. Best bet now is to go above the dam on the washington side (with a boat) and fish back by the lock entrance. Fish in there go round and round (you can see the school pass) and just cast your lure out with a slow retrieve and BAM!!! Lots of fun. Keep us posted!
