We have 2 woodpeckers that are destroying one of our trees out side. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get rid of them? I have a BB gun that still works fine( hint hint wink wink) I hate to kill the little birds because they are just doing what they are supposed to do but they are killing 1 of our trees. ANy help would be appreciated!

eek what

I don't think Woodpeckers just randomly seek out trees to kill. You could kill the insects that they are going after and stop them. I'm not sure you do that though!

I had a woodpecker that would bang on my stove vent pipe every morning at about 5:00 a.m. for a while.

For some reason he just left laugh but is sounded like an air chisel on a steel girder eek

Agreed the peckers are not doing the killing, they are just dining. Much like OJ you need to seek out the real killers.

There are bugs and flys and bes flying all around the tree but there are way too many to kill. They have been hammering on the tree since about June 1st. We were hoping they would go away but it does not look like they will.

Your trees are already dead for all intents and puposes.
Only a matter of time before they come down on their own. Insects and disease are the real killers here. The woodpeckers are innocent!

Believe it or not......If you can take some pork fat and hang it in a place where you dont mind having the little critters. Wood peckers are attracted to the scent!!!! Maybe a neibhors tree laugh Make sure its a neighbor you dont like!!
This is not a joke it really works!!!
