Got lots of questions about fishing the Hoh this time of year.

Are most of the steelies hatchery or wild? Are they above the 101 bridge or below it? Same two questions apply for springers.

Lately I've been pounding the head of the tidewater section to no avail except that my dad caught and I helped release a 4-5lb dolly. Been using spoons and spinners. Should I switch to bobber & bait?

Corky or Spin N Glo for the chinook? Size? Most productive colors? What lb test? Do Mag Warts work casted from the bank w/sinker or diver?

Please dispense some advice so I can make my first hookup...

The summer runs are hatchery fish although from what I've read they are not planted there but are all 'stray' fish. Mostly smaller fish - I've never caught or seen one kept above about 8lbs. Anybody beg to differ?

From experience the river assumes a milky glaciated hue during the hot days of mid-summer. Has the river been colored lately, Rockhopper?

The river is gonna be extremely low throughout summer and into fall which will make things difficult I imagine.

Summer Fish are planted by the Quinalt Tribe above 101.

Never is a big turn out of Hatchery Summer Steelhead in the Hoh but it can be close to consistant from time to time.

Starting in Augest you should start to see more Wild Summer Steelhead in the picture and the closer to October you get the more wild ones you will see. Some are nice fish.

I personally have caught more wild Summer Steelhead in the Hoh than the hatchery ones But I spend most of my time up in the Forks in Summer. Well I yousto anyways. frown

Its called Barlowe's...drive to the end of the Oil city road and look for the signs off to the left that say "Pay here"....there is an upper and a lower barlowes takeout right now, upper being above the Barlowe's place and lower being below it....

Good luck, and don't miss the takeout while yer on the river....

Hey SRTIKE ZONE where were your buddies fishing? I'm thinking about taking a trip up there for kings but for bank fishing the tidewater would be the best spot to fish for bitting kings. Is that where your buddy's were fishing?

Anyone ever had success fishing prawns for kings in the tidewater sections? Last time I went the pool I fished was fairly dead except for the usual suspects(dollies, smolts).
Are there any fish at Cottonwood? I went sunday but got caught making a treacherous channel crossing right in the middle of the time when the river rose half a foot. beathead River was pretty discolored(grayish this time)
