I think i speak for everyone when saying when people PURPOSELY TRY TO SNAG fish it is because snaggers are low life pieces of trash who only snag because they cannot actually catch fish. I hate them and they dont deserve to be fishing. They are the people that give fishing a bad name! Whehhhhhh thanks for letting me vent guys....Feel free to join me in Venting!! Oh and if i offended anyone by this I am Sorry

never really cared for snaggers, especially ones who go after ripe old spawners, especially chums. it's just bugs me that people would go after fish that are practically belly up, and the majority of the time keep them

It's a humpy year which will bring the snaggers out in droves for those "good smoked" boots.

Better not some up this way in the summer then! Fish everywhere, but snagging is EVERYWHERE! The state even allows it in a few terminal fisheries when escapement is met.

Then you got dippers ... thousands of people with huge nets made with gillnet mesh at the river mouths.

You think snagging is unsporting!

what ever could you mean?? how can you not love the indian kids on the skok with their 30# test, pencil lead wrapped on the shank 4/0 trebs, and a perfect 4 step drop and jerk?? i did laugh my ass off when i saw one of them hook themselves when their treb came flying back at them and stuck them real good... it just can't be stopped, all we can do is just don't become one of them or teach this kind of $hit to our kids or newcomers

We all agree that most fisherman dislike snaggers. Yes, they are desperate, unsporting, unrespectful, uncaring, blah blah blah... So do something about it!

Yes, there is not enough enforcement...SO, get liscence plate #'s, call state patrol, or if your really ballsi throw their a$$ in the river... Ive had a fishing buddy throw a guy off a huge rock into 7 feet of water for trying to snag silvers. I'd suggest handling it differently(more civil) but if it really gets under your skin, bust some a$$ fridge

Just curious Fisherman 8989. What did you catch that fish on and were did you catch that fish that shows up above your profile? Not pointing any fingers by anymeans but I hate flossers worse than I hate snaggers. That looks like a pretty ripe spawner to be biting. I could be WAY off base here and probably am. So dont take offense if I am way off base.

I cannot recommend violence because I have scars to show for my own poor judgement in the dim dark past. So;

Yell at 'em!
Report 'em!
Testify against 'em!

Flossing/snaging same thing.

Glad to here it FisherMan8989. Flossing is were your line passes through or around the fish's mouth and you feel a "bite" and set the hook which will set in or around the fish's jaw. Also called lining. And the a-holes that do it can keep a fish that has been hook from the gill plate forward to the tip of the snout. The cowlitz river is the flossing capital of Wahington. Why do you think that the people on the Cowlitz use 5-6 or even a 10 foot leader? I fish there a couple times each steelhead/salmon season with a 3-4 foot leader and catch just as many fish, sometimes even more, then they do. But mine bite!

It's going to be a tough year on the Snohomish with silvers and humpys! Always a snag/floss fest! I've even called to report it. No response from WDFW! UHG!
