I am heading out to Neah Bay this weekend and have heard about the big boys being caught near the Umatilla Reef. Where is it? If you have GPS coordinates, I would really appreciate them so I can put some positions in before I get there. Any other advice aobut where or how to fish would be appreciated. This will be my first trip (taking the wife and young sons).

Thanks,
David

If you want, you could take me down there and I could show ya. We grew up out there as kids. During the summer we had a bouy down and stayed there all the time and we would fish for days. My Bro and I are ready to roll as soon as you want!!!. Actually, Go out to Tattosh and hang a hard left. Go about 12 miles and there ya go. Have fun and let us know how ya do!!!!

We got to Tatoosh on Saturday and Sunday, too rough for our boat. Turned around at Tatoosh and fished in nice water.

Make sure you bring enough boat, with VHF and navigation gear. There was a 21' Bayliner Trophy calling for help out there, asked for an escort from the CG because of engine trouble. That 47' rescue boat can move, but it would seem like forever if it was you.

Good luck, go slow in big water, be safe and have fun!

If you look on a chart or map for Cape Alava and go straight out from there to 275 ft of water you will catch fish.

Grandpa is 100% correct! Get back inside before the afternoon winds stsrt to blow. If it is too rough to get outside, target mushroom and slant rocks for kings. Fish in close. You can also hit kings east of slant along the lelp beds out from the garbage dump.

Have fun, and get those youngens into some fish.
