What brand and size of hook leader are you having the best luck with? We are having terrible luck with salmon sawing off our leader right above the hooks. Lost four big kings today and it wasn't the hook set, all were on for quite a while then just gone. We had eagle claw lasers 25#. Tks sealice

i use 20# maxima UG for my herring leaders, 30# UG if im using hootchies (the stiffer line gives a better kick back from the flasher)

as far as hooks, i aint even gonna go there, but they are sponsored by the letters "G" and "O"

At Neah Bay recently I was tying my own leaders with 30# Jinkai and 5/0 Gamakatsu hooks. We also used pretied Gamakatsu leaders that a friend brought with him...hooks would sometimes break off on those. On hootchies I use 50# Izorline. If you are mooching you can get away with much lighter leaders.

Just use 30# Maxima UG and you won't breakem' all off and you won't have to change leaders on every fish.

They are not leader shy in the big blue.

I usually use 30# Maxima, but lately 40#. A little extra security. Use the clear, not brown.

Seaguar florocarbon in 25# with 3/0 or 4/0 Owner cutting points. Beat that!

I get mine at Sportco ($19.00 for a pro pack) or as a last resort GI Joe's ($23.99 for the same thing).
Good luck!

Tried out some 40# leaders tonite at lapush. Didn't break them off but only got one silver. Had what we thought was a king but when we got it to the boat it was a 5 foot shark or dog fish not sure which. Maybe that is what we were hooking last time out and it would explain the leaders being bit off!
