Saturday, I fished with friend Barry and the nephew of a friend of Barrys, Andreas. Andreas is from Switzerland visiting his uncle. This is Andreas's second time visiting Seattle.

We thought we would fish Elliott Bay for king salmon. Got to the launch at 0400 and started fishing right away. Just before the tide change at 0930 Andreas landed this nice little coho salmon. Andreas's fish was the only fish for our boat for the day.

Nice! I was not able to get on the water until about 11:30. Figured it was worth going out anyway. When we left, the checker said 30 chinook for 70 boats. When we got back at 3:00 it was still 30 fish but now for 130 boats! Plus 29 resident coho. We got squat. Finally got both the fishfinder and the downriggers to work at the same time though which was nice.

Easy...sounds like you did better than most.

We got lucky. Four of us got a couple of silvers and a nice king for my buddy's dad. He is from back East so it was nice to see him hook into a nice fish.

Hey....I got the picture uploader to work. Here's a pic of my buddy holding his Pop's fish.

We launched at 3:00am........One hookup, one 18.5lber. Saw only one other large king boated all morning . Also some small silvers. Very slowwwwwwwww. Very little bait showing after first light. Only scattered fish marking. Hopefully things will continue to pick up. Pulled the boat out at 9:00am. Looks like we made the right choice.

Well not bad for my buddy and I. At 8:30am my buddy landed an18lb Chunookie around Todd. It died down there so at tide change we headed over to the point where my buddy hit a 2lb Silver. By 11:50 when things seemed to be slowing down I hit in to my 22lb Chunookie and than at 1:00 when we were fixing to leave I hit a 8lb Silver. Plus between us we had 7 shakers. We did see a few boats landing fish out there on both tide swings.

Here they come gentleman, Erndog

Nice work Erndog! Good to hear you did well.

Could it have been the Tengu derby?

Don't know of one, but if there was, that kind of haul would have been tough to beat! What was your depth and bait? I assume mooching with herring?

Way to go Easy, at least you had a fish in the boat! I'm assuming that the fish was caught the day after the fishery opened?

I went out with my Dad on Elliott Bay on Saturday 7-19-03. Caught a derby winning #20 (according to our scale), at official weigh in it was #17 13oz on a very used scale. Fish lost some weight that day - lol.

I'll post a pic hopefully today.

BTW: Heard tribesmen are going to do a test run on Elliott this week. Keep your fingers crossed that the fishery can continue. Appears that the fish are running late again.

There's fish out there, just not quite abundant in size. Seen a few #14 or less in size caught on Saturday.

WDFW checker said when they were sampling (don't remember if last weekend or not) 180 boats, every 5th brought in fish. Seems kinda high.

Gook Luck on your next outing.

The Muckelshoot "test" fishery usually means a massive haul fishery at night. I think last year the test fishery brought in 13,000 kings. OOPS...no more season..not enough fish!!! OOPS we caught em all in one night..OOPS

Keep the reports coming everyone, I ruptured my Achillies Tendon last Tuesday, had surgery on Wednesday and will be laid up for awhile before I can get my boat out on the Salt.

Although it's killing me to be reading the reports about Tulalip and Elliott Bay, instead of fishing them, it's keeping me going! I can't wait to get out, somehow, I'll be out there soon!

Golfer, All our catches were between 120 to 160 trolling. Had about a 45 degree angle on my DR's. Squid w/filet herring and Sonic edge was the magic. If you see fish deep on your depth finder go get'em. All the fish that we've been regerstering the last 2 weeks have been 100+ deep. Finally paid off. Have my Father inlaw due in this weekend and plan on taking him out Friday evening. Hope to get him in to fish.

Grandpa2, funny how these so called test fisheries work, seem's last year the only thing they were testing was to see how much there boats would hold? one failed miserably sinking with 10,000 fish on board not saveing one of them, fish that is,sorry,( not meaning to turn this in to a bashing thread)

Fished EB from 2:30 - 9:00 am on Sunday with two takedowns and nothing to the boat. Pre-dawn fished the 25-80 foot level and then went deep later. Saw a few fish landed but not lots by any means. Checker had 2 fish for 11 boats when I got back. Everyone was still on the water.

Hey Driftboat, Thakns again for the trip. Mom and Dad were happy with the four steaks I left with them. I even got a steak and to decent BBQ fillets out of it.

Driftboat: how deep & what were they hitting? I was on green-glow flasher/hootchie combos and generated little/no interest. Sounds like you fared considerably better fishing at the same time. I trolled the dark hours along the shipyard & then the afternoon off the point.
