got some new cataracts w/ magnum blades and they don't slide into the oarlocks like the sawyer wood ones (blade interferes)...anyone else ever come across this?
looking for a bigger size of oarlocks on the net hasn't really turned up anything either (looks like they are standard sizes).
so, did those of you that have the magnum bladed get a larger oarlock? If so, where and what size?

thanks

I may be wrong but I thought if they are brass oar locks that you just bent them out a little to expand them.

Anyone know for sure?

If the oar shaft diameter is going to fit your oarlock then a little filing will probably do the trick. I would be leary about bending brass as it will weaken the oarlock or may just snap off.

the shaft fits fine (same diameter as the sawyer woods), but with the bigger blade and the contour of it, it binds prior to getting on the shaft when sliding through the oarlocks.

I gotta think that this has happened to someone else or cataract has thought of this in their design....

Thought about bending the brass oarlocks out a little, but not sure how or with what tool and am also concerned about weakening them...

suggestions?

It might be just as easy to remove the blade, slide the oar shaft in the oar lock and pop the blade back on. May be a bit of a hassle, but no permanent modifications to the oarlock. what

I had to file the openings on my Willie oarlocks. They had been farming out the work and there were quite a few bad castings.
