There are several bars (sand bars not the drinking establishments) that you can drive him near enough to wheel him out to the is a boat ramp, near the bottom of johnson bars that you can driver right out to the edge, but Im not sure if that part is open yet...the water's a little green there right now anyways so just watch for the opening and the water should be clearing as soon as the weather cools down a little (glaicer melt)...DJ

fishaddict how goes it? Couple of questions for ya?
1. How old is your son?
2. Can you get him into a boat without much problem?
3. Can you go on Friday with him?
Reason I ask is I love nothing more than to take kids fishing especially when there's lots of fish around to be had and its a pretty sure bet you'll have them hooked for life in somthing with a positive outcome. I currently have Friday open and if the river clears up enough I'd be more than happy to take you guys out, no charge.
Drop me an e-mail or leave another post here and I'll check in tomorrow night when I get off the river if Friday works for you.

Was down looking at the commercial boats at the Bellingham marina.
The pinks are stuffed in there now. Two days fished the incoming tide and they were both days.
You can drive right to it and just sit on the dock. Go to where all the commercials boats are moored and walk west as far as you can go. You will see the other fisherman.

Thanks for the offer. My son has muscular dystrophy and has no strenght in his legs or arms and is also on a ventalator. What I was thnking if I could drive him on a bank, I would catch a fish, with my hands place his hands on the rod and reel and together we would reel in the fish. I REALLY appreciate your offer. Your a very generous man and a HERO in my book. THANKS FOR VERY MUCH.

No problem Fishaddict, glad to help out if I could. Here's somthing that may help you out though and offers access where you can drive your rig right down to the waterfront for your boy. Its all catch and release there right now until Sept 15th but is stuffed with Pinks. Its on the South Skagit Hwy. where the old Lyman/ Hamilton Ferry used to cross. It will show you on maps of the area. (there's a North side and a South side launch there,..South side is where you want to be) Good spot to get right down by the water with your van, catch fish and watch your sons eyes light up. Best of luck to you and yours and be sure to get some pics for us all to see.

JohnnyCoho - That is an excellent spot.
It's the old Lyman Ferry about 2 miles past the Day Creek store to the left off of the South Skagit Hwy. It's not clearly marked and looks a bit like a private drive but just drive straight down the nicer looking dirt road to the end. The fish stack there by the thousands.
Some other spots with easy drive to access are the spud house SW of Mt Vernon off the Penn RD. and the Gardner Rd access in Burlington.

I was up at the spot your speaking of yesterday. I believe it is called the Persitine Crk. access. The South side is not friendly for boat access, but do able. The north side is a great concrete launch.
There were a few fish flopping on the south side, but not many. Spud House today had lots of people and lots of fish. Youngs Bar, had few less people but limits of fish. Both of those sites will be kinda tough getting a chair to the shore but it is possible. The Spud House does have some sites that you can fish right from your car..
