There are still plenty of fish around. We were there over the weekend and the pinks were around but slowing down and the silvers were very willing. Water picked up and was rough but was still very fun.

Fished Sekiu last Thurs-Fri and the coho fishing was happening, especially Thursday. Probably brought to the boat 50 coho, one humpy and one king (20 pounds, hooked in the side!!) in the two days. Biggest coho was about 15 pounds and had others 10 and 12. Also saw an 18-pounder at the dock Thursday and others in the 10-14 pounds range. Mark rate was excellent, with about 60 percent of the fish lacking an adipose. Coho were smaller on Friday, at least the pockets we got into, ranging 3 to 7 pounds. Troll 15 to 50 feet and fast to avoid the humpies and target coho. Should get even better over the next three weeks.

Just got back from 4 days out of Slayque. Weather went from sun to rain, rough to smooth and clear to fog. But the fish were hot. the pink schools were a hit and miss i just looked for the jumpers. they were in the 5lb + class. with the large tides i found the smaller silvers were hitting in the morning but in the evening they were big the largest being 14 lbs. I ran up almost to NB on Mon. in the fog and found silvers there as well. The bite was kind of sparce at times but there was always action. Just 4oz lead and a cut plug. Even a coulple on i fly with no weight. The capper to the whole trip was the king that was pushing 40lbs. Thank god the leader broke as he came to the boat . That would have hurt turning that one loose. I wish I had more $ and time. The straits have done me well this year. COHO

Check 68 and 69, and if you forget your knife, it will cost you your eggs! I still have the same boat, you too?
We will start in close, then head out to 600ft+.

How about some curent reports? I had a trip to Brownlee planned for Sept. 27 Oct 1. May cancel due to low water and lack of launch sites that still work. Now thinking of Sekiu or Potholes. Any suggestions?

State checks out of Sekiu from the weekend were very good. 552 anglers checked Sunday with 767 coho averaging 7 pounds and 47 pinks averaging 4. With the wild release rule, that means probably more than twice that many coho were actually caught. Good friend who lives there says lots of fish 12-18 pounds coming in. I'll be there later this week and will file report...

I was there Fri-Sun and had a great time. Caught lots of fish and some awfully nice one's too. Kept fish up to about 15 pounds but the average was right around 7. Is it just me or do these fish seem really healthy? I'm not telling any fish story here but Saturday morning about 9:30 @ 32 feet I landed the largest Coho I've personally ever seen. I'm figuring it to be well over 20 pounds. I'll be there this coming Sunday-Wednesday so if you see some guy in an open bow Bayliner with yellow and chocolate labs in the boat, feel free to toss me a beer. Dave

Jeffhead, what kind of boat are you in? I'll be in a white 18-foot Glasply with brown stripes, fishing mostly in 400-600 feet of water north of the bell bouy. Look me up. Be there Wed-Fri.

Hey I've got a question for you Sekiu experts.
Would my 18 foot open-bow tri-hull be sufficient up there? I fish Buoy 10 all the time, but I never go across the Columbia River Bar or into the ocean anywhere else. I was told that I need a bow cover in the Big Blue in case I take one over the front.
When you say you fish 300-600 feet, how far out from shore are you having to run?
Just curious what you guys thought.
