I was also looking for line other than maxima
for my bait casters. I went to izorline and thought that was great line for the money and
then tried Ande and liked it even more. This stuff casts great and is strong as a mutha!
The price is sweet to boot. If I were you I would try ande mainline and maxima UG for leaders. This is an excellent combo.

Izor is line of choice for my spinners and casters..

Way cheaper then maxima and is just as tough..

my experience with ande on a spinners is that it explodes off spool but I use it for leaders sometimes.

For heavier line during salmon season I go with power pro braided and berkley big game 15# and higher.

I fished with maxima UG and chemeleon for years. The price is way to high compaired to other lines which are just as durable and less memory..

Take a look at Maxima Perfexion. Lots of the chemeleon and ultra green characteristics but let diameter and more limp for open faced reels. Use it on ALL my spinning reels.

I've used P Line CXX Xtra Strong for years and find that it is my favorite. This is some tough stuff that casts wonderfully. I have bent hooks while snaged with the 20 lb. Test and gotten my lures back using the improved Double line) improved cinch knot. It also looks great on a Cacutta (Moss Green). Just wish that Outdoor Emporium or Kauffmans had it in the Downtown Area. Closest place to buy it from Downtown is a Drug Store on North End. I usually order mine from Cabelas and always keep plenty on hand. Cabelas Rocks!

If you choose to fish with the best equipment, why not use the best lines and hooks available?

Parker nailed it, if you aren't making any ground on the fish, tighten your drag a little so you do make some ground. Every turn of the bail puts a full twist in your line. I see guys reel like mad to no avail and once the fish is landed the next cast is a total mess. Or, if the fish breaks off a nice bird nest snaps back at you. I can't remember what line I have on my spinning reel, but if the fish is running, I let him run and tight the drag until he isn't running so fast, and then start reeling him in.

Spinning reels are real hard to keep your line straight fighting big fish, just part of the game.

My choice of line is Ande mainline, w/Maxima perfexion leader, I figure it is a great 1, 2 punch. Make sure you use good swivels and don't reel too much when fighting fish. Because lack of those two things will guarentee twisted line.
