I was hoping someone could help me. I am wondering where about to fish for cohos in kingston. Do you fish Apple tree point, in front of the ferries or Jeff point ? any advice would be helpful.

Right out in Front or a bit north to get you in a line between Edmonds and Kingston. We limited this weekend fishing 3.0-3.5 mph downrigger wires out 80-110 feet.
Watch out for the Ferries!

We did pretty well straight across at the oil docks just south of Edmonds. Fish in 250+ feet of water and set your DRs at 70-110 feet. Green/glo squid and white/glo squid 28 inches behind a green/glo Hotspot flasher.

We got a late start out of Kingston on Saturday but limited (6 fish) by 1:00 using gear described above. We trolled from Kinston to Jeff Head and back staying well offshore, but we were only fishing at 35 - 60 feet down.

In Kingston, I was moored next to the boat that Jack Nicholson took out fishing with the "doctors" on Cuckoo's Nest. Boat was named "JIMCO of Depoe Bay". Pretty cool.

Ah, Hah! You found the happy silver hunting grounds! I love that stretch between the south Apple Tree Cove point and Pres Pt. People always seem to pass it by though for Jeff or Apple Tree. Not to divulge all my "dirty little secrets" about the area but just as the sun goes down on a high tide you might catch me sneaking my drift boat in real tight to the bank to row or slow troll a cut plug or spoon without weight in 4-8' of water. Caught some of my biggest nosers on my last pass of the evening this way.
Save a straggler or two for me.

One of the best places that most people don't fish is just inside the south point of Apple Tree Cove. Work from inside the point out along the ridge that runs due east off the point. Silvers funnel around the point on the flood and hold up on the ebb. I hit this area hard when tide is moving and then when the tide slacks I'll troll like a mother between there and Pres Pt. picking off the movers and shakers.

Wave if you see me. You can't miss the funky little white bathtub limping along on it's last legs and coming to the name "Lucky".

was fishing by 5:15 in at 7:15 with my limit. primarly fished in front of apple tree point. Thanks for the pointers. I will be back out Wednesday morning.

Are you launching out of Brownsville or somewhere in Kingston? I have been launching from Salisbury Pt. at the Hood Canal bridge and running all the way to Scatchet Head or Shipwreck and it takes me about 20-25 minutes. Just wondering if there is something a little closer to these fishing grounds like in Kingston maybe. I wouldn't mind trying that Appletree area either, sounds pretty good right now. Since PNP has been closed I've had to work harder for my fish and it can get pretty brutal out in the strait if the wind comes up trying to get back.

Nevermind, I got off my butt and did some research and found some info on the Kingston ramp. Sounds like a better bet than what I've been doing.

Kramer, I have used both launches the one in Kingston is really nice it has a fresh water cleaning station for your boat. I grew up fishing at PNP using the PNP boat house (Which I us to work at in the summers) I have also been looking for places to launch I have launched at Salisbury and ran up to PNP long run. I like the kingston launch and fishing is a 3-5 minute run North to apple tree if that.

BM, how busy does that ramp get? The Port of Kingston website says there are 18 trailer parking spots and I'd imagine this time of year they'd fill up pretty quick.

Man, that's the last time I give out one of my zipperlip holes. When I saw them over at Edmonds this morning I thought maybe they'd bypass Kingston. Coming home I knew better. Oh well. Nets? I didn't know they were opening the Kingston area for nets. When do the nets go in?

looked they were working in with the sporties off edmonds this morning and up and down the westside later when i came home in the evening. appeared to be seiners to me. Don't know who they are or how long they'll be staying, but the usual list of suspects hasn't showed up in Apple tree cove yet. Still too early for the chummers.
