Schwarzenegger elected in CaliforniaLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Californians have risen up in political revolution, storming the polls in record numbers to throw their governor out of office and elect in his place Austrian-born action film star Arnold Schwarzenegger who tapped a deep vein of voter anger. Governor Gray Davis was swept out of office in stunning defeat as Californians vented their fury over the state's sputtering economy and the career politician leading them, a man who once dreamed of winning the White House. more...

Is that man's hand groping Arnold's breasts in that picture? ...but seriously, I think Swarzy will be great for California. I can't wait to see what his first changes to the States laws and political environment will be! It'll be interesting to say the least!

I think in the movie "Demolition Man", (Sly Stallone, Wesley Snipes) Sandra Bullock makes mention of "President Schwarzenegger".
They'll have to change the law on qualifications for President before we get to that, but could Demolition Man be a prophecy of the future?

HH.. Better than the chicken soft taco though??? 'Go Radford Rams!' Official results page Now if Angelyne would have made an interesting addition to the Capitol. At least you know where she was coming from.... Or if Gary Coleman was elected you know he'd at least stand up for the little guy...

DA GOVENATOR!!!! I just hope they don't expect the story to have a happy ending in less than 120 minutes. California has some problems that will be difficult for anyone to solve without a little pain on the part of the citizens. Just remember, I'LL BEE BAAAKKK!!

I doubt that it will have much effect except to bring the economy to the forefront in some campaigns. It's interesting that the conservatives blamed the liberal Davis here while the liberals blame the so-called conservative Bush on a national front.
In my opinion the current economic situation has little to do with either although the current budget shortfalls reflect over-spending in optimistic times.
It seems to me that ideological and emotional issues will prevail over reason as shown by the differences in county results.

San Francisco County: Arnold Schwarzenegger - 39,330 votes - (18.9%) Cruz M. Bustamante - 132,123 votes - (63.4%)
Los Angeles County: Arnold Schwarzenegger - 787,048 votes - (45.0%) Cruz M. Bustamante - 657,135 votes - (37.6%) San Diego County: Arnold Schwarzenegger - 418,555 votes - (59.4%) Cruz M. Bustamante - 167,993 votes - (23.9%)

I wonder what effect Arnold's success wil have on fishing releated issues?

If california can do it we can do it federally to get Bush recalled (yeah right it will never happen). We will see Jeb in 2008. And we will see Bush ride Arnolds shirt tail for California votes in the upcoming months. Arnold isn't even a Republican it was a ploy to get into office. Like someone else mentioned previously there are not going to be any major changes California has too many problems. I cant wait to see what happens when he HAS to raise some taxes. This is Bush's chance to help him out for his own election, and get California's electorial votes, and make Arnold come out a hero.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Arnold isn't even a Republican He's a Republican.........just a moderate Republican. He's campaigned for the GOP Persidential candidate the last few elections. He may not fit the "typical" GOP model, but that doesn't mean he's not a Republican.

How come Arnold would not debate or talk about any of the issues, i believe he recieved votes on false hopes, please explain to me what he can do to change California's economy. I have to agree with Chris Matthews on this one.

Enthusiam is great bravo for Arnold, yes i will agree he brought voters out that have never voted before, and yes i watched the debate also, he did sound great, but like you said he had the questions in advance. I hope he doesn't dissapoint the new voters, like many voters were dissappointed in the Bush/Gore fiasco.
