I'm thinking of having one made up for this winter season. Like to drift fish, throw size #2-4 spinners and do a little bobber & jig action from time to time. I'm looking in the 9-10' range any user reports???......... thumbs

1143 of course! Exposed blank reel seat, 1st two guides casting, single foot fly guides the rest of the way. Good long rear grip, 14" maybe. It's long enough for float and comfortable for drift fishing.

Mr. Rainshadow himself (the late Bob Batson) once told me that his preferred summer steelhead rod was made from the 1263 blank but for the winter natives on the penninsula his favorite was the 1264.

Both are 10' 6" long and well suited for either float or drift fishing but the latter has a bit more backbone for landing the large winter nates in a condition that is compatible with releasing them relatively unstressed.

Looks like you guys are leaning toward 9.5 to 10.5 rods in the 3-4 power range. I take it some are the 1/3 rd. rear seated spinning reel types used in bobber & jig fishing. What reels(spin or casting) and lines..# pound test/Brand, are you all using with these long sticks?? I'd also like to hear from a 9' drift fishing(read: baitcaster) rod user in the 1084 range..... fishy

I have a 1084c that was built for me by TH and I absolutely LOVE it! Can't go wrong and at that price, you can get two for the price of one G Loomis...

I've got the 1084 as well, although I had TH make it as a spinning rod. Very nice. Would highly recommend.

Well rainshadow is a great rod, for steelies I use either a 1084, or 1141,or 1143 which is my fav. TH custom rods builds an awesome rod I have two in spinning and one in casting, they all kinds of handles to chose from, if you go spinning try the reverse handle. these rods are tough,as well as sensitive.
