Water looked good this morning, nice color, a little low. Started throwing glowballs at 6am and had fish on! after about 20 minutes. Interesting take - the fish took the line upstream, so I first realized it was on because of slack line. Got to feel some nice head shakes and splashing out there in the darkness and then off he came. frown

Daybreak found the bobber fishermen having all the success. I saw about 5 caught until I left at 9:30am. Seems like most anglers are using bobbers at Reiters now. I'm stubborn, even brought my bobber rod with me but just felt like I wanted the satisfaction of feeling that headshake hit.

Oh, the rock I was standing on was... sorry, that's my zipperlip rock. laugh

Hey ... that was ReiterRat's rock you're talking about. Be careful ... he's been known to sneak up from behind and push people in. The things some people will do to catch a brat smile

Reitor ponds on the hatchery side is is Not open till daylight and closes at dusk , there is a large sign on the right hand side of the road as you drive in that explains that, the game wardens will write you a ticket if they catch you. Quite a few guys found out the hard way . Just thought I would let you know, I talked to one today and he said that they are planning to be up there and the Snoqualmie because they are getting a lot of reports of people not punching there cards and fishing after they have there limit. You can fish the highway side because it is not state land.

Hi
What time are they letting people into Reiter these days? They usually have a time posted on the sign (hatchery side). Just curious.
Thanks

I'm not really sure of the exact time, I generally go on the highway side, but they go by sunrise and sunset times you can look that up at the www.weatherchannel.com It dosen't get daylight untill about 7:30 and I believe sunset is about 4:30 .

Ouch, I just checked the regs and it does indeed say night closure. Bad me to make an assumption based on the entrance sign. Thank you for the warning. No more glowballing at Reiters. BTW, the time you can enter the parking lot is 6am.

Mike, the night closure is for salmon and ended on November 30th... Fishing for steelhead in the dark is legal.

I bet you see alot more "floats" up there in the very near future. I went to the Dave Vedder presentation at Three Rivers Marine last nite. I will be trying some float fishing along with the other 150 + fishermen that became belivers. I saw 10'6 float tods and floats leaving the building. I think you will see a few of them soon. You might want to try a float, there is a reason why it has turned into a float hole.

Watch out if you park on the Hiway side. Friends rig got his window smashed yesterday. Two others also experianced the same. Keep the valuables out of your rigs , and if it were me I'd park as close to the hiway as I safely could.

The sign at the entrance to Reiter say 6am. Personally I think this is too early and it's certainly before daylight, but it's legal. Some years ago, they use to change the sign--7am during the winter and 6am during the summer, but they've stopped doing this. Glo-ball away!

Hi All
Thanks Obsessed for giving me the time on the sign at Reiter. Over the years, the only time I've heard of people getting in trouble there are the ones who go in before the time on the sign. And I have been one of the 1st people down there before and have seen a guy or 2 there already fishing.

Also, rigs have been broken into on Hwy 2 off and on for years. I know I never leave anything of value for them to get. A car pulls in next to yours, someone gets out, looks around, SMASH-GRAB and they are gone.
Thanks Again

Usually a night closure is between one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise. If it is here, one could start fishing at 6 or so.

Edit: Note to self: read all posts before posting. beathead

The sign does say 6 a.m.

Night closure allows fishing from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.

I am aware of the night closure rules and when they change, I only posted what I was told by a game warden so the people here would not get a ticket , If you want to go there at 3:00 a.m. I don't care...... have fun, I mistakenly thought I was trying to be helpfull, you can interupt the laws any way you want to, once again I don't care!

OK, now I'm really clear on this... confused

Time to shot an e-mail off to WDFW.

In any case, what would life be like without the 6am "fast walk" from the parking lot to the river? It's one of life's little joys, as we all pretend not to be in a rush to get to the river first. The things some of us will do to catch a fish.

Mike, The regs state there is a night closure that lasts un ti November 30th.. that is the prime salmon season and the rule is intended to reduce snagging.

That closure does not extend past November 30th.. so December 1st is 24 hours a day opportunity.

The sign on the gate at Reiter refers to "access thru Reiter land and the parking lot" and not the fishing in the river.

I've always understood that the main reason for the night closure for the reiter facility was to keep yahoos from snagging/netting fish that enter the creek area during the night. This used to be a problem back in the late 80's.
