I remember you teling me that! I have cleaned all my gear, sharpened every hook, and pre-tied my leaders. I am ready to go! Have you been fishing lately? I have a report for you if you want to give me a call. I hear my boss wants you to take him out for a boat ride! later.

Actually 5 weeks and a day, isn't it ER - lets not be jumping the gun now :p But yeah, I'm counting. My goal is to actually catch a fish that I can enter this year - last year even the smallest fish won $100 - 'course the fishing was so bad that 90+% of us got skunked, and yes, I was proudly in the majority

My brother and I will be back there also.

My brother is the one who won it last year. It was the only bite we got all three days. With the bad weather on Saturday and the slow fishing, we were talking about quitting the Derby and going to try Mid Channel Bank when the fish hit his line.

Hopefully the fishing will be better this year.

I plan to fish this derby but have no false hopes of winning the thing. I have never fished Discovery Bay, and will be mooching in an old Poulsbo boat that has a little aft cabin.

Fun5Acres was going to PM some tips for fishing this area, but if anyone has any suggestions on where to mooch or jig, I'm open to hearing them.

Deos the derby have a web site? Whre can I find info, nerver fished it but sounds like a good time.

Our PSA chapter is doing the Sekiu derby that weekend. Free lunch, free hat, and should be flatter water. I have always heard the Disco Bay Derby is the "Macho" derby -- he who can bear the big water best wins.


Don't forget, boys, that you'll be flaking out on Valentine's Day...

It was the first time we fished the area so I can't really say what areas are the best to fish. We caught the winning fish off of Cape George trolling a white squid behind a green/glow spatter back Hot Spot flasher.

Grandpa will be the guy in the winner's circle this year. Hopefully we will all have more accurate scales this year for our club derby within a derby.

I'll be running around out there for the next few weeks, marking bait balls and charting them in relation to the tides and current. Thats what a home court advantage can do for you! OK, not really, I have too much work to do... Why two derbies on the same wekend? Our football program has pondered hosting a PA blackmouth derby in between weekend of the other ones up here. Probably not until next year though.

Best burger east of there is at the Chimacum Cafe. Just thinking about it has me craving a Paul Bunyan Burger. I think it's only offered as a special now though.

Just a word on Fat Smitty's.....it was open today. I also noticed that there is a sign that says, no credit cards or debit cards....I don't know if it's a sign that the place is goin down or not.

Look at these very minor swings! The fish are gunna be scattered... Time to put my secret fish call on the wires for the Disco Bay Derby.

My prediction is the "big one" will be caught the very first day.. Derby winning weight will be 17 1/2#

Disco Bay

Scattered and deep DR, except for that first couple of hours. Disco is just plain a tough place to catch fish under the best of conditions, that big runout all day will pretty much tank it.

I'm seriously thinking about double-dipping this year too - I have a place to stay in PA and might just fish Disco in the AM and Sekiu on the outgoer in the PM. Who's got the link to the Sekiu Derby?

And DR, don't go catching those pretty 'lectic 'riggers on fire again
