That basic strategy, however, is believed sound and will be employed again this year. Test fisheries with a few boats will be conducted to determine the stock composition in-river before full-fleet fisheries approved.

How can the basic strategy be sound when that strategy has failed 2 out of 2 years. Sounds like failure to me.

It sure is sad to see fish making it back and then justifying a commercial fishery due to the returns... Again, a classic example of $$ running the world.

If I were to win the MegaMillion Jackpot I'd write a check to the commercial fishery board and get them off the river. But that will never happen.

What's so wrong with a specific fishery where they net near the hatcheries in rivers?? Why not let them hand pick their springers to sell right out of the hatchery pins?? There are too many stacking holes on rivers that could produce plenty of fish for these commercial idiots to sell.

What, a springer isn't fresh enough in April/May to just hand pick them out of a specific hatchery designed especially for harvest?? Why not just get the netters out of the river and go to such a selective commercial fishery....
