Great news!!!! The compact meeting was held and the nets will NOT be going back in until run forcasts are updated at the end of April. It's time to rock and roll!!!!!!

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife March 31, 2004
The Columbia River Compact agencies of Oregon and Washington met today to review ongoing commercial fisheries and consider commercial fishing options in the mainstem Columbia River and took the following actions:

Non-Indian Commercial Fisheries
Spring Chinook Commercial Demonstration Fishery
· No action taken on this fishery. The fishery remains closed at this time.

Future Hearings
· A potential Columbia River Compact hearing may occur Monday morning April 5 via telephone to consider additional fishing options for Select Areas.

· A Joint State Sport hearing to review ongoing spring chinook sport fishery and associated impacts will occur via telephone on Thursday April 8, time to be announced.

· Recorded Commercial Fishery Updates and Action Notices can be accessed by calling (503) 657-2000 ext. 391.

The fact Sheet also States, (There is also a potential Compact hearing on April 5th, 2004 to consider additional fisheries in the Select Areas).
I take this to mean more netting possible depending on the fish runs.

It will happen when the run all of a sudden explodes....tons of fish...and then guess what? One night more of netting...and OOPS!! caught WAY TOO MANY..shut er down....
