Am I the only one noticing the overall negativity on the board lately? Especially all the guys posting just to stir the pot. Puts a real downer on why we all congregate here.... our virtual home river. Maybe that's why there is so much less activity with any substance... all this negativity is keeping all the regular contributors away.
C'mon guys, let's not allow our "home" to deteriorate into shambles.
If someone wants to get on here and just sling mud, best response is just SILENCE. Try it and see how quickly the instigator just quits.... they get no fun out of their inappropriate posts if they can't get a rise out of someone.
That's all I have to say on this topic, so if someone wants to "flame away", be my guest.... you'll get no rise out of me.
For the rest of you who agree with this post, stand up and be counted with a thumbs up, aye, or amen. Then make a pledge to post something in the next week of a contributory nature to this piscatorial pursuit we all love. Let's not allow all of TRBO's great work to be held hostage by a few troublemakers.

Like your mama told ya (or should have if she didn't) "if you can't say something nice, don't say nothi' at all!" It is ok to disagree. It is ok to be passionate. State your point and move on. There is no need to attack others and it only distracts from what you have to say. Be good to each other, you never know when it may come back to you!

LOL. Funny thread. This is to be expected. I think every board I've ever been to has it's ups and downs. It's just going to happen. I think this is like the 3rd or 4th saga of flamings since I signed on (which was pretty near the beginning of the board). Just happens. Just that the WSR is the basis for the flames. Last year can't quite remember what it was. It will pass like all the rest. Every board goes through, not just this one. Luckily, didn't go the way of NWfishing. Was a pretty good board (and think the only one back then that had a decent following). That place fell apart fast. Now just a mediocre board that barely is posted on. Figured it would be one of the biggies, not just a remnant of what it once was. But it was always in turmoil. Think that was the big problem. Just like a bad virus, just give it time and it'll pass. But can give it some meds (banning lol) to do some quick curing. Will it cure the problem in long run? Maybe, or may just come back again (see how I put the physician reference on the fishinphysicians thread?? )

SQ: I think you have it right, even though you are one of those guys who dont always see the wisdom of my point of view, you have alwasy disagreed civilly.
I hereby take the pledge. No insults or name calling. (Well I won't call board members names. I can't help but call some politicians and sports stars names, but I think that's healthy)

Yer right on target there Doc,.why do ya think I put the Jimmy Buffett post up every season. "Maybe the Hokey-Pokey really is what its all about!" " There's a thin red line between genius and insanity and not only have most of us crossed it many times,...we've completely erased it"

It's not just the guys, some people it would seem are just out there to run everyone else's idea's, thoughts and suggestions down.I have tried to have discussions about various things here and find that it turns into a bash fest. Seems like if you have ideals that don't corrospond to the people (old timers on this board) then you are driven out on a rail, I have been taught that through discussion and the mixing of ideas, come more enlightened, informed and closer groups, driven to take on the vagaries of groups that would impead your ideas, thoughts and suggestions.......Fishy.........

Its been kind of tame for me lately. The last few photos I've posted of my kids catching bigger fish than most guys here regularly catch haven't been flamed at all. I'm glad "they" have been picking on someone else.

Personally, I think the solution is for mods to hit the delete button early when the thread content is unacceptable. Of course, this would require that the "standard" is well defined for "acceptable content." From the outside, it looks like people are baited until they respond in an inappropriate fashion. Then, one person is banned or the thread is locked. Over time, posters would understand that PP doesn't play that and wouldn't bother posting unacceptable content on their own. The plus is that you get the acceptable content which banning doesn't allow. My two cents... which is probably not worth two cents.
