Not sure how many people got them, but our house got two coupons for $10 off a $50 purchase. If you didn't get these, they may ao may not be available at the front desk.

Not true Seacat! they have alot of salmon, and Steelhead gear as well. I was extremely impressed. I dropped $88 yesterday before I had to walk down to work at Costco. The location is pretty handy for me.
Later

hey folks, third trip this weekend! this store has more salmon and steelehead gear than walmarts whole fishing section. thier prices are reasonable for a local store without utilizing the internet. best of all it is a true "one stop" shop, I told my wife the only thing they had for girls (no offense there fisherwomen) was a camo nightgown (which they really have) anyhow this store has everything, down to the local fishing reports (thier spelling leaves to be desired) unless you want to use your soul to fish for lingcod, but overall I am still awestruck, my wife has always had joannes and other craft stores, finally there is one for e without the contempt I find at certain other local stores which will never see me or my business again. I hope they regret the way they treated me because I only wanted a few sinkers and not a brand new electric downrigger! anyhow if you have not made the trip stop by you will be impressed garanteed!

Elkman, I know they have Salmon/Steelhead gear. But do they have more Salmon/Steelhead gear than Bass and Trout? Maybe, but my birdie (an avid salmon angler) says no...and he works there in the Silverdale store. Sorry for trying to mislead anyone. Better than Wal-Mart/Fred Meyer/Kitsap Sports? That's affirmative, absolutely. What's not to like? Send the wife to Costco and lose yourself in SW!

Does anyone know if they are going to have a Grand Opening Sale? And if there any good deals going on or ads that are running.
I heard that Outdoor Emporium is going to Grand Opening sale on Memorial Weekend.
Thanks

Well, considering that Sportsman's Warehouse is 50 miles away from Fife up on the penninsula, I doubt that Sportco has much to worry about. Too bad I didn't know about it when we were up at Neah Bay, or I would have stopped on the way back.

'Living proof' that the only thing that separates the 'man from the boy, is the price and size of the toy.' Impressive photo; more 'stuff' in the picture than all the sporting goods stores located in the southern half of the state of Oregon.

I made the stop and was initially impressed as soon as I walked in the door. However, that feeling went quickly away when I went through the tackle section. Somewhat a dissapointment- too much hype! Maybe once things settle down, they "localize" the selection. Where was that "avid salmon angler" on the 17th? Stopped in to say hello, but he probably was scammin the day off

Downriggin,
I think he was recovering from his Westport trip! Heard they had the usual slaughter of bottom fish and calm seas to boot.
You are confirming what he said about localizing the selection. Lot's of stuff in there, just depends on what your needs are and whether or not they'll be stocking it. For some, it will be fine. For others, well, we know where to go. To each his own as they say. Still, it's a nice store.

one good thing, is the staff is totally willing to win your business. I mentioned several things that I saw as missing i.e a large majority of fly fishing publications but none on salmon and local puget sound fishing? also mentioned several items I would like to see and the saleman took out a notepad and wrote the stuff down, if they are that willing to make sure my fishing supplies are a one stop ordeal, I have no problem shopping there

I personnally preferre Sportmans over sportco. It is alot more organized. Like everywere else you are going to find stuff that is more expensive than other places if you look hard enough, but from what I have seen and heard from friends of mine they are about the same or cheaper than sportco. If you haven't been to one you have to at least make the 45 minute drive up and check it out for yourself. Their are a few guys that I work with that aren't sportsmans and they were disappointed because they though it was going to be a sporting good store. I asked them what part of sportsmans wearhouse don't you understand.

I would disagree and say that Sportco will definitely lose some business as a result of the new store. I live in Belfair, and would rather drive to Silverdale than Fife. I will still go to Sportco, but not as much. There are a lot of people in the surrounding area who will do the same. It may not break the bank at Sportco, but it will have an impact.
I really enjoyed the new store. I took me an hour just to get half way through and I dropped a couple hundred dollars. Got a Beckman Salmon net that I was going to buy at Auburn Sports, but they were all out.
Didn't spend too much time in the fishing section, but I will be back very soon.

To those of you holding your breath about Cabela's planning a store in the Northwest, don't hold your breath. My cousin is very high up in the management of Cabela's in Sidney, NE and I pinned him down recently at the funeral of his mother about expansion plans they have. He stated that while they will eventually look westward, all current plans are for continuing expansion eastward in the United States. Sorry to burst a few bubbles guys (and girls), but I think we are in for a long wait. In the meantime, Sportsman's Warehouse will do. They have other stores in Spokane and Kennewick and I have shopped at, and dropped, quite a bit of money at their stores in Utah.
