Wow, I did have my truck broken into years ago in everett, but the fool left his mail in the back of my truck and about shiatt his pants when I knocked on his door to deliver his mail back to him. Got my stuff and told him that he better become my auto body guard, cause if anything else ever came up missing I would visit him late one night....

good mail box story.. a old guy that lived across from my own first place was on the point of where two roads came togather. that fall just as school was starting back up his mail box was getting ran over about twice a week. after the second week i saw and regconized the little scum balls , they where a year behind me and in my little brothers class. I gave the info to the old man so he could call the cops. he suprised me when he told me to keep the info and not let the punks find out we know who they where. I asked why and he said becouse the trap was almost set and closed the door. i was stunned. they had hit his box about four times.and every time he would put the box back up on a even flimsier peice of wood then the last time ,making it easier to knock down. that sunday just before dark i spy the old man out in the yard with a wheel barrel, shovel ,and a steel pipe. the wheel barrel was full of concrete and he had a twinkle in his eyes. I walked over picked up a shovel and helped him set a 3 in steel pipe filled with cement in to a 4 ft deep hole also filled with cement. we covered the pipe with a hollowed out 4x4 with the box attached to the top. I never said anything to him or him to me the whole time. but as he turned to put his tools away he said "see you at 630, the time that box usally got hit. I set my alarm for 6am. i brought a camp chair over to his front step and he broght the coffe. 6 27 am the truck made contact and riped the drivers side wheel and tire ,along with parts of the front bumper, and fender, off the truck. 71 chevy. Dads 71 chevy. Iam sorry , officer daddys 71 chevy. the truck traveled across the road and in to and thru a split rail fence in to the yard of mother of local judge. the boys lived but they payed for a long time. I always use fairness with caution when dealing with old men that still have that twinkle in their eyes. they have lived in harder times then i every will and know how to deal with poeple in thier own special way.

I knew a guy that kept having his mailbox hit so he made a big one up with 4 or 5 slots in it for all his neighbors out of 1/4" steel. Set it on a pipe which sat in about 2 wheelbarrows of cement. That lasted until someone wanted to test out their new winch late one night. So the next time he borrowed a back hoe from someone he knew and dug as deep as he could then called the cement truck up. When he was done he proudly stated that it would take a D8 cat to pull it out now. 25 years later it's still there.

I know of someone else recently who was having the same problem. He went and bought the biggest box you can buy. Took it to work and had it lined with a rolled piece of 1/4" steel. They're up late one night watching TV and hear a "DONG" go our the next morning and there's a really small ding in the outer box and a couple pieces of aluminum baseball bat in the road. \:D
No one else has ever tried to get it, although somebody had a wide canopy or camper and clipped it once. Ripped the door off the front and left fiberglass all over the road.

Thats what I am doing. Putting a piece of heavy pipe in a big tin mail box.

We used to take off from Pullman on long fishing trips while in college. We would load up the floor boards with big round rocks about half the size of a bowling ball. We would bomb down the highway and hold the rocks out the window and just drop them into a mail box at 90mph. The boxes would just dissapear leaving the post intact. One time we got pulled over for speeding. The sheriif wanted to know why we had all these rocks in the car. We made up some story about using them camping. He asked us if we knew antything about mailboxes being stolen in the area?
