Has anyone have/tried to use the Scotty rod holder that wraps around the pontoon?

Any other suggestions on a rod holder?

Thanks

I've got one on my buck boat that mounts directly to the frame (Scotty). It's for a fly rod and works very well.

I use my pontoon boat for flyfishing. I use the strap on Scotty pole holder to hold my flyrod.

I don't know what kind of pontoon you have, but here was my solution.....

I have the Scotty wrap around (for spinning rod and bait casters) on my 10ft Creek Company potoon. Works great. I have not tried plugging with it. When I am moving through an area I need to be on the oars, I place my rod in it. I don't need to brake it down to keep it out of the way.

rwgav8 Thanks for the offer but will have to pass.

Hey Dogfish, that's one heck of rod holder pontoon boat.

For all the guys who have the wrap arounds...Is the mount pretty sturdy or does it wiggle around.

I still paddle in my float tube one in a while and the adaptabilty seems like a good feature.

Thank again

Some great ideas out there. For winter steeling I made a 5 ft long 2by4 and on either end screwed in Fish On rod holders. Then I plan on securing to the pontoons via bungy cords forward of the front seat.

For fly fishing I've found it's easiest just to wedge the rod under my thigh while I row.

The wrap around rod holder is sturdy. Does not move around. I put rod put the three rod holder like Dogfish has on the front of my ice chest plus two singles. Works great for extra rod and fish smacker. I have a 100 qt cooler on mine so I can fit a whole fish with out bending.
