Anyone have a report for the Kalama?

I stopped in at Beginner's last night on my way home from Portland. Only fished for about 1/2 hour. Did run into a guy who had boated from Pritchard's down to Beginners. He touched no fish on the float, however, he saw lots of fish caught both SR's and Springers. He then caught two nickel bright SR's at Beginners bouncing shrimp. I was not there when he caught them, but they sure were beautiful. River is a little higher than it was 2 weeks ago, but still real clear.

Went out last Wednesday and had five take downs. Lost a nice springer at the baot and landed a 14 SR. Awesome fish. Chrome as can be. I'll be running the black Willie down there next friday. Keep up the reports.

I would be interested in knowing where to launch a drift boat and where to take out. I fished the Kalama for Steelies years ago from the bank, but never from a boat. Also, any hazards on the float to avoid? I appreciate any help. Thanks. Mike

Hit a nice 13# Steelhead this morning at beginners hole with a pink worm under a bobber. First fish I've caught on a pink worm, fished with jigs for the first hour switched to the pink worm and nailed it on the second cast. I heard a kid caught a 30# chrome bright springer lastnight. Some pressure but if you get there before daylight you'll be okay.

I picked up a scrapy 7-8# SR last night .....Ross
