Lead slinger..

The grandy creek project doesn't have anything to do with steelhead restoration.. It's a hatchery program nothing more nothing less. I personally hope WSC opposes the Grandy creek project simply because it's stupid to spend the money on another hatchery program!!!!!

RA3,I noted your objections above. You and I are never going to see eye to eye on hatchery policy or even who should be allowed to fish,I'll bet.
I believe WSC is for reform and not elimination of hatcheries and that will put them at odds with you in regards to hatcheries ,will it not?
I respect your arguement as much as I disagree with it.
I am very interested to see if WSC is the sportsman's conservation organization I hope it to be and not as some suggest as a bunch of fly fishermen who would eliminate folks from the river if given a chance under the guise of consrvation.

Your estimation of WT is dead wrong...

They are not a bunch of fly fishers wanting to eliminate people from rivers..

They are however a group of people largely anglers that are deeply passionate about wild salmon trout and steelhead and think they should be saved regardless of the cost.

As others have suggested....

I take them,WT, at their word that they are not a sportsman's conservation organization, but a conservation organization.

It is my hope that WSC is a SPORTSMAN'S conservation organization that has our interest(sportsman) as well as that of the fish at heart.

I don't have any personal bent against flyfishermen. They are fishing too, right?

I removed the reference to avoid any further confusion.

I hope that this gets the support it should from organizations interested in both aspects of recovery.

Doublehaul, if you are affiliated with WSC do you know if they have had an opportunity to examine the issue or offer support?
Good question Leadslinger!

We have been assured that the WSC is not against all hatchery operations but rather for hatchery reform towards wild steelhead friendly hatchery practices.

We have also been told that they are currently in the process of developing a comprehensive policy towards hatchery operations in general.

I wonder though if the WSC has been able to assess the Lower Skagit Steelhead Acclimation and Rearing Facility project and if they might be able to comment upon its probable impacts at this time?

I would also be curious as to the personal ideas of any members of the WSC about the project? Todd? Jerry Garcia?

Double Haul - Have you had an opportunity to evaluate the project enough to offer support, opposition or other comments?
