For a commercial cure, Pro-Glow hands down.

Why?

Simplest to use, no worry of buring eggs like pro-cure products.

Brighter egg than any of the pro-cure products.

Dye will not permanently stain like pro-cure products.

Both make nice eggs when used correctly, but I choose Pro-Glow \:\)

For commercial cures...

I am partial to Pro Glow also. I tried the wizard cure last year and it made some decent eggs.

I agree with the above about adding additional ingredients to commercial cures. Think sugar, small amounts of ethyl alcohol (disperses organics in water). ;\) Add alcohol to eggs after they have been cured. (start with small amounts). I also play with small amounts of MSG, other preservatives and oils.

Been looking for Pro Glow on the web...can't find it anywhere.

Any stores in the area carry it? Lots of Pro Cure, but no Pro Glow.

Pro Glow. You can purchase it at Sportco in Fife. As Bob said, ease of use for a consistant quality egg. Freeze appox 1# of eggs in a gallon freezer bag with the excess juice left in and they will keep for several years without freezer burn. Thaw them out and drain the excess juice. Roll them up in paper towels and stick them in the fridge for a few days to firm up. Refreeze several times without loss in quality if kept layered in paper towels.

What? 23 replies and not one person voted for Amerman's??

Scott has the best cure on the market, although it's only available thru mail order. Maybe that's not considered a commerical cure. If not, I'm not sure which cure I'd use. I normally use Scott's or Wayne Priddy's cure. But if Big Bob says Pro Glow, I might try that one.

I would also go with Pro Glow for the same reasons Bob stated. I have not yet tried Amerman's. It seems to be more popular in Oregon.

My vote goes for Amerman's as well. I use his cure mainly for Salmon. I use my own blend of jello, borax and shur cure for steelhead.

Siberian red with some smelly juices added

It accounted for over 100 fish last year and is 1/2 the price of pro-cure. It produces a nice egg without the big chemical smell of other cures......important to me.

I first tried it on a whim after having done the cherry jello/borax and pro-cure thing for years and now I won't use anything else.

Everyone has their favorites but frankly, I'm surprised a few more guys don't use it.

Shur Cure all of the way.. As for ammermans, its okay stuff but not a good all around cure. Great for bobber fishing, but lacking in other departments. If I was stuck with one cure it would have to be a "cool" one. YOu can always make them hotter if you want.
