If you could use only one commercial egg cure , for all of your salmon/steelhead fishing would it be? Also what color would you get? The cure has to be available to the public. I would have to go with pro cure wizard in the double red hot color. I'm curious to what everyone is going to post

How many have used the pro cure wizard? Or is the original pro cure better?

I'm with you guys. If there could be only one, then it would be PC's original RHDS. Man that stuff makes some nice eggs...

I use the PC wizard, but can't really say how it compares to others. I have also used some Amerman's eggs that fished well.

Parker:
I have no doubt that "the Ultimate Egg Cure" is a good one...
Fact is, it doesn't mean squat if the presentation of the bait is not correct, or the wrong gear is used, or, or, or, or...
Good egg cures will catch fish, and we all accept, based on comments from you, that it is a fair to excellent cure...but since only you and perhaps a couple others have used that cure, for the rest of us it is a non-starter...and of absolutely no relevance since we have never used it.
Catch a lot of fish, have fun..but don't be arrogant...the cure is just one number in the big equation of fishing.

Oh wait, the question was for a cure available to the public. Darn. So much for the super secret and Ultimate Egg Cure. Fine. Pro Glow with some "what-nots" and other goodies added in. Again, "what" that is, I'm "nots" gonna tell ya!

No doubt...that bait of eggs is pretty. Is it really worth the secret?
I used Pro Cure on the eggs I did up last year..first time I ever tried curing eggs. Came out pretty darn good, too, and caught me a few silvers.
Looking forward to trying out some of the Pro Cure Double Hot, and Amerman's as well. By mid-Oct. I should have oodles of Coho eggs to try out different cures on. We'll see if they work on the hatchery Steelhead come Dec.

Man, Parker. You must be trying to cause me even more grief on the river . For those who don't know me, I'm the creator, and unfortunatley, the maker of the cure (believe me on this, making large volumes of cure at one time is a royal pain in the A$$, not to mention a big mess). I just don't spend much time posting on the net about it, or posting much in general. Problem with going commerical is trying make profit on the cure alone. Therein lies the biggest reason for not being on the market yet: the numbers just don't add up. Not to mention the time involved it takes to get something like this up and running, while making a living in an entire different line of work and trying to have enough free time for fishing, personal life, etc. If I start makin 10 g's a month in with the new business I started 3 months ago, I will market the cure, that's a promise. But even then, Keith and I will have to do something else with the "Ultimate Egg Cure" company besides just egg-cure. Something like what Pro-Cure and the other companies do: Oils, cured prawns, cured sandshrimp, etc., etc., etc. Hope this helps. Thanks, James

For a commercial cure, Pro-Glow hands down. Why? Simplest to use, no worry of buring eggs like pro-cure products. Brighter egg than any of the pro-cure products. Dye will not permanently stain like pro-cure products. Both make nice eggs when used correctly, but I choose Pro-Glow

For commercial cures... I am partial to Pro Glow also. I tried the wizard cure last year and it made some decent eggs. I agree with the above about adding additional ingredients to commercial cures. Think sugar, small amounts of ethyl alcohol (disperses organics in water). Add alcohol to eggs after they have been cured. (start with small amounts). I also play with small amounts of MSG, other preservatives and oils.

Been looking for Pro Glow on the web...can't find it anywhere.
Any stores in the area carry it? Lots of Pro Cure, but no Pro Glow.

Pro Glow. You can purchase it at Sportco in Fife. As Bob said, ease of use for a consistant quality egg. Freeze appox 1# of eggs in a gallon freezer bag with the excess juice left in and they will keep for several years without freezer burn. Thaw them out and drain the excess juice. Roll them up in paper towels and stick them in the fridge for a few days to firm up. Refreeze several times without loss in quality if kept layered in paper towels.

What? 23 replies and not one person voted for Amerman's??
Scott has the best cure on the market, although it's only available thru mail order. Maybe that's not considered a commerical cure. If not, I'm not sure which cure I'd use. I normally use Scott's or Wayne Priddy's cure. But if Big Bob says Pro Glow, I might try that one.

I would also go with Pro Glow for the same reasons Bob stated. I have not yet tried Amerman's. It seems to be more popular in Oregon.

My vote goes for Amerman's as well. I use his cure mainly for Salmon. I use my own blend of jello, borax and shur cure for steelhead.

Siberian red with some smelly juices added It accounted for over 100 fish last year and is 1/2 the price of pro-cure. It produces a nice egg without the big chemical smell of other cures......important to me. I first tried it on a whim after having done the cherry jello/borax and pro-cure thing for years and now I won't use anything else. Everyone has their favorites but frankly, I'm surprised a few more guys don't use it.

Shur Cure all of the way.. As for ammermans, its okay stuff but not a good all around cure. Great for bobber fishing, but lacking in other departments. If I was stuck with one cure it would have to be a "cool" one. YOu can always make them hotter if you want.
