Was wondering what everyone else rehydrates their bodies with during a long, hot, summer steelhead trip. I would have to choose an ice cold mountain dew. I know what your thinking. Who would drink a mountain dew when they could pop open a cold brewsky. Well, my main reason is that I'm only 16, and I think the police or game warden would frown upon that. Heh, heh! Not that I need another reason, but I don't think drinking alcoholic beverages is a good idea when wading on a slick stream or operating a sled on a crowded (or uncrowded) stream. So what is your favorite?

If it is a cheapo beer day, good ole Coors.
Ih I am just drinking a beer or two Then It's Bridgeport.

For NA drinks I like the new Orange flavored Crystal Light .

Had to jump in on this one. Pardon the health kick I'm on, but if you want to get serious about replenishing electrolytes and maintaining energy, here are my following recommendations. I feel compelled to write because I'm also a triathlete and push my body to the limit on a daily basis.
1. Water + a good orange.
2. If you've been fishing hard all day, make sure you're getting your salt too. It helps the water absorb better.
3. Bananas help too--great source of potassium.
4. If you want to fish harder and cover more ground, try one of the althletic supplements.
I take one called Carbopro. It's complex carbohydrates. I take a scoop of this with my water. It absorbs easily, very easy on the stomach, and bottom line is you'll kick butt.

Mountain dew is horrible. Gatorade is not the best, as it contains a pile of corn syrup.

I'll get off the podium.

1 32 oz Nalgene bottle always goes with me even though it rarely gets cracked. When it's a macro I gotta agree with SkyGuy, there's something about a rocky mountain high that the others can't compete with. When it's bottles I need something high in bittering units, usually IPA's, Pale Ales, and ESB's and of course a nice refreshing homebrew at the end. I think I like fishing in the winter because I can justify stouts and porters. They seem to warm me up when my fingers are frozen stiff.
No yellow piss for me.

Hey Flog I know how you feel about "The Original" so go have one for me.

Now you guys forced me to have a nice refreshing Bert Grant Perfect Porter clone, Thank You.

For NA I like gatorade, when I feel like a good microbrew I like a black butte porter or mirror pond both excellent.

Hey guys he's 16!!!
I like any of the SOBE elixirs...good stuff except it's in glass, so it's not light weight \:\(

Gatorade is making a product called Propel that is perfect for hydration.

Of course lots of water the day before is almost as important as during the outing.

Apporpiate question since it's going to be so damn hot.....Am I still in Washington?

being as I always end up as the boat captum I save the beer for home, ussually 1-2 gallons of water on ice. several pepsi's for real early ( wakes me up and keeps me from having to head for the john during prime bite) then I'll switch over to water after 8 or so. bottom liine, sitting in an aluminum boat on the water when the temps what 80 now? not good to drink much of anything but water, and really not good to not have any on board in case of a break down trolling back to shore can sometimes take a while \:\)

Choice number one is ice cold water when really thirsty.

choice number 2 would be a light beer troller's version. Alaskan amber followed by 12 ounces of water. Half the alcohol and half the calories of two beers.

I second the Propel drink. I've been drinking lots of that during bike rides the past few hot evenings. Really quenches the thirst and is vitamin enriched. Has a real nice lite taste.

I've heard a lot about propel. Is it just lemon flavored water, or are there other ingredients?

Well, I don't have the bottle's ingredients in front of me, but off the web, it says its has 6 vitamins. Not sure what other flavorings are used but there is no color added to the drinks.

If I'm rowing my DB and pulling plugs sweating my ass off.
Then I drink ice cold water, gatorade, and Coke.

But If I'm sitting up front just fishing.
I drink ice cold cheapo beer (Coors, Schmidt 16oz etc) and snack on teriyaki beef jerky. \:D
Cheapo beers bring good luck to me.

Schmidt's has the packaging where a rainbow trout is chasing after a royal coachman fly
Should bring good luck.

I couldn't help thinking that Jerry had a few too many coldies with that picture of him passed out in the chair. Gotta love it. Any way yeah watch the booze and fishing, its so fast to have an accident occurr and I would hate to see that post so were all big boys watch out for your self and others. Hey I just picked up this fanny pack like life preserver that doesn't get in the way at all. I bought it for the pontoon boat and can't say enough positive things about it.
